Basic requirements for the authenticity of news photography
The basic requirement of the authenticity of news photography is the multi-level authenticity of news, that is, it is a common view in the journalism theory circle to divide it into factual truth and essential truth or macro truth. Specific to the news form of news photography, we should take objective facts as the shooting object and emphasize the objective truth of news events themselves; Second, from the point of view of the whole thing and its interrelation, it should be true, that is, it should be true and fully reveal the truth of real life, emphasizing that news photography reflects the real environment of real society. At the same time, considering the particularity of news photography, it is also required that news images must be shot on the spot, which can neither interfere with the manipulation, nor be repeated afterwards or even replaced by models, that is, news photography images are true.
1, about the truth. The truth of news photography is first caused by the appearance of fake photos. Photographs created for propaganda during the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution have brought great harm to news photography and aroused people's reflection. The fake photo is the place where news photography should pay attention to authenticity. Starting with the analysis of fake photos, there are two requirements for the authenticity of news photos: (1) the facts are conclusive, "adhere to the photography principle of the trinity of time, space and object"; Second, the subtitles are accurate and reliable. In fact, if stunts are excluded in the process of shooting and post-production, there is no problem of forgery in the photo itself. Many fake "news photos" are based on the title "Say", and the inaccurate interpretation of the text directly leads readers to misinterpret the photo information.
2. The truth about the essence. News photography accurately reflects the essence of things, that is, "directly reflects the image of news things that exist objectively in life from content to form." The premise of discussing essential truth is the truth of news facts, and the means to ensure essential truth is to choose news images on the basis of investigation and research. The essential truth is controversial in theory and difficult to grasp in practice. In fact, a large number of individual news events do not involve serious essential issues, but are an evaluation and judgment of the macro-communication effect. Moreover, this formulation is easy to be used, and the typical historical lesson of manipulating news dissemination with "true colors" is profound. Essence is a critical point of news reporting, which can only be approached and inaccessible. Rather than being true in essence, it is a kind of social responsibility, that is, journalists and editors make specific identification and selection of news events in order to safeguard social interests.
3. About the authenticity of the image. Realistic images require photographers to choose the lens that best reflects the characteristics and essence of things without disturbing the objects. The main manifestation of violating the truth of the image is posing, either an image scene that does not exist in the development of the director's event, or a principle made up afterwards to break the consistency of time, space and characters. This is a unique phenomenon of news photography distortion, and the image does not match the facts.
