What kind of reflector is better?

There are four kinds of reflectors used in photography-white reflector, silver reflector, gold reflector and black reflector. Occasionally, a soft light board or "gauze curtain" is used. We can't generally say which reflector is good and which is not. Different reflectors have different uses, so our most commonly used reflector may be the best reflector you need. The role of different types of reflectors White reflector: The light reflected by the white reflector is very fine. Because its reflective performance is not very strong, the effect is soft and natural. When you need a little light, use this reflector to fill in the details in the shadow. This situation is often used when using similar window lighting, which can make the shadow part more detailed. Silver reflector: Because the silver reflector is bright and smooth as a mirror. It can produce brighter light. Silver reflector is the most commonly used reflector. The effect of this reflector is easily reflected in the eyes of the subject, thus producing large and bright eye light. When the weather is cloudy and the light mainly comes from above the head of the subject, put it directly under the subject's face, so that it is just out of the camera's field of vision, and reflect the light from the top to the subject's face. Under cloudy light conditions, the white reflector does not have such a strong effect. Gold reflector: use gold reflector to fill the light in the sun. Like a silver reflector, it reflects light like a smooth mirror, but in contrast to a cold-tuned silver reflector, it produces light with a warmer hue. Gold reflector is a common main light. Take a portrait with backlight in bright sunshine, and reflect the light to the subject's face from the side and a little higher. This reflector has two functions: first, it can get directional light that can shine on the subject's face, and it can also increase the exposure of the subject's face for one block; Second, it can reduce the exposure difference from the background to the foreground, so that the background will not be seriously overexposed. Black reflector: This reflector is different because technically, it is not a reflector. But a "dimming plate" or a "light absorption plate". Other reflectors are used according to the method of adding lights, in order to add lights to the scene. The black reflector is used to reduce the amount of light by dimming. Why use a black reflector? For various reasons, we often have to shoot with annoying overhead lights. The face photographed by this kind of light often produces "raccoon eyes". By putting a black reflector on your subject's head, you can reduce the light at the top. Soft light board: it can block and weaken the light between sunlight or light and the object or person being photographed, make the light soft and reduce the contrast. It can be used when the light is strong and you don't want to change the shooting angle and lose the background, or when the light becomes soft to reduce the projection of the subject.
