(Judy Hua) Hua Juan
Independent fashion designer, founder of JUDYHUA Studio. Won the “Chinese Designer of the Year Award” at the ELLE Fashion Awards , and has won the "Most Stylish Award" at Shanghai Fashion Week for two consecutive years. He has worked in depth with many leading cross-industry brands, as well as top Chinese artists and architects such as Zhou Chunya, Zheng Zaidong, Wang Yuping, and Zhou Wei.
”
Hua Juan is accustomed to writing down things that touch her. Over time, her notebooks have become a source of inspiration for her new season fashion creations. The notebook contains books I have read, art exhibitions I have seen, and scenery I have encountered. Some of these inspirations have been integrated into past designs, while others are waiting for a suitable opportunity. For example, the scenery I encountered on the way to Dunhuang two years ago.
"There are few human traces on that land, and as far as the eye can see are deserts and distant mountains. At sunset, the weathered stones blend with the colors of the desert. Our car is driving on the road, and the road On the skyline at the end, the setting sun suddenly disappeared. The skyline seemed to jump for a moment, and then it also disappeared. For people like me who were born and raised in Shanghai, the impact of that scene of light and shadow was huge. . But I’m not ready yet how to present it in clothing design.”
The high-end fashion brand founded by Hua Juan has a simple and avant-garde style, aiming to use fashion as a carrier to show the strength and softness of contemporary women. Inner strength has already won the "Chinese Designer of the Year Award" at the ELLE Fashion Ceremony as early as 2011. Before becoming a fashion designer, Hua Juan worked as a choreographer for more than half a year and as an assistant to the president for more than half a year. The former allowed her to understand what the creative team behind the scenes should be like, and the latter allowed her to see what qualities a team operator should have. Subsequently, Hua Juan founded her personal advanced customization brand JUDYHUA and served as the design director.
"I once thought about what kind of job would allow me to express my thoughts on art and serve people's daily lives. And fashion designer happens to be just that."
Art plays a very important role in Hua Juan’s life and career, just as art was the initial motivation that made her decide to become a fashion designer. At the beginning of her business, she loved contemporary art and opened a studio and flagship store in M50, a gathering place for artists in Shanghai.
"For example, Mr. Zhang Enli, from his early works to the present, he is changing at every stage. When his heart becomes calmer, his works make me feel more. I think this change is amazing. I went to see his art exhibition when it opened last year and told him: This exhibition is really great. He told me: This is necessary because of the audiences and collectors from all over the world. We have seen so many things, and they will become different from the past, so we must get better every year.”
Some time ago, Hua Juan saw the United States at the Long Museum. The exhibition of female artist Loie Hollowell was very touching: “Different stages of life, such as pregnancy and becoming a mother, have had an impact on her creations and promoted changes. For example, The changes in painting tools, from brushes to fingers and even the use of sponges... Her works bring not only visual feelings, but also experiences. When I see her works, I will think if I also try to integrate them in clothing design. What about different elements? Changes occur during the fusion process, just like the spiral changes in the painter's brush. This process of change fascinates me. Sometimes the difference is only 1 centimeter or 0.2 centimeters, but the visual effect is different. I would keep disassembling and assembling them until my legs were numb when I stood, and I realized that four hours had passed."
A colleague from the company's product department once asked Hua Juan: Why is a piece of clothing? Does it take so long to print? Why does a bag need to be dismantled and dismantled over and over again? In this regard, Hua Juan's answer is very practical: "First, the time of pattern making has no impact on your income, we do not work on a piece basis; second, we are not a commercial brand, we are a designer brand, we What we need to do is like what Yves Saint Laurent said: Women's clothing is not a beautiful building, but a house. We should make the people who live in the house feel comfortable and beautiful. We are constantly dismantling and redoing it. This is not a waste. , but based on the wearer's feelings, constantly improving proportions and adjusting details to make the clothes obey the wearer and make the wearer feel free."
Jennifer L., author of "The Face of Fashion". Craik wrote: "The increase in women's consumption power has significantly increased their choice and discernment, and thus requires them to make their own voice heard in fashion design, the ultimate referee field of female performance." Hua Juan said that what she tried to do, It is to convey one's own design concept, so that people who wear JUDY HUA can feel some spiritual strength from it, and hope that they can feel the beauty and texture of life through fashion.
Although she has been greatly influenced by artists, and although art and fashion design are both part of the creative industry, Hua Juan has never confused her own positioning: "Fashion designers are not artists.
We just show our observations and attitudes towards life through clothing design. At the same time, as the clothing of our works, it must first serve people's lives and be worn and felt by people. It comes into contact with the skin and needs to be functional and durable. ”
Hua Juan’s ideas coincide with those of architect Shuhei Aoyama. He believes that good design not only improves people’s lives on a functional level, but also is a design that touches people’s hearts on a perceptual level. It is precisely because of the compatibility between brand style and design concept that Shuhei Aoyama has become Huajuan’s latest cross-border cooperation partner: “Whether we are doing interior space design or clothing design, we all use design to express our feelings about people themselves, Understanding the essence of human life, while paying attention to material texture and detail control. So I think our design concept is very universal."
Last month in the Chengdu International Financial Center, the store designed by Shuhei Aoyama for JUDYHUA was officially opened. The main decoration of the store has a variety of options Natural stone and metal materials are imported from Italy, and the natural beauty of the materials is restored with streamlined and delicate handwork. The concave and convex texture of the marble echoes the delicate texture of JUDYHUA's fashion materials, and brings an artistic atmosphere to the entire space against the backdrop of soft light. A wonderful atmosphere of high-end texture.
Hua Juan once wrote in a column: "Only a few people are artists of life, and the art of life is the most outstanding and rare art. "And her life, design and brand are witnesses of all this.
