First, composition

Third, the lighting direction.

The position of light source is related to the composition of still life and has a great influence on the final picture. The front light is suitable for expressing the color of the object, but because the shadow falls behind the props, the result looks dull and lacks three-dimensional sense. When the light moves to one side, the shadow may be more obvious. Side light can produce very eye-catching and moving effects, and shadows also become a part of the whole composition, which fully shows the texture and shape, giving people a strong three-dimensional sense.

The light scattered by the soft mask is placed on the side of the still life, which produces an effect similar to that of cloudy light entering the window. Usually this is needed to illuminate still life. Charming edge light can be obtained when the light source is behind the object. For example, if a bottle full of red wine is reversely illuminated, little light can pass through the wine, but a small white line will appear on the edge outline of the bottle.

When shooting simple still life, patience, creativity and imagination are the three most important characteristics of still life photography.
