Plot introduction

Charlie klock (mark wahlberg) and his partner Steve (Edward Harrison Norton) are thieves, with extraordinary skills and superb skills, working together for the Italian mafia. On one occasion, they jointly robbed a batch of gold worth more than 4 million dollars from China. In the pursuit of the police, Steve betrayed Charlie, sent him to prison and kept huge amounts of gold for himself.

Charlie, betrayed by his friends, finally spent several years in prison and walked out of the prison gate. He is determined to win back the gold medal. To this end, he sought help everywhere. The first thing he found was a beautiful woman named Stella (Liz Theron), who was good at breaking the combination lock of the safe in the shortest time. In addition, Charlie also found an excellent soldier Rob (Jason Statham).

Knowing that Steve was at large in Los Angeles, Charlie quickly planned a detailed and comprehensive theft escape plan to avoid the double pursuit of the police and Steve. Because Stella is a master password, it shouldn't be a problem to break into the safe. The key is to escape. Charlie decided to create a traffic jam in Los Angeles and control the traffic lights at various intersections in the city, thus opening up a green channel for their successful escape.

In order to complete this seamless plan, three people made a detailed division of labor. One person is responsible for hacking into the computer of the transportation department, controlling the traffic lights on the streets of Los Angeles, and reporting the fastest and safest escape route. The other two drove blue and red BMW SUVs respectively, carrying the captured gold and speeding on the streets of Los Angeles.

The serious traffic jam has also attracted the attention of the police. Steve is not a fuel-efficient lamp and will never give up gold easily. At the same time, he also sensed Charlie's plot, so he didn't drive after him, but followed Charlie's head in a small helicopter. Charlie in a BMW dodged the police, but he couldn't escape Steve in a helicopter. Finally, the two former thieves will face a one-on-one duel.

Behind the scenes production

The title of the film is gangster jargon, because both "Charlie" and "Steve" in the film have worked for the Italian mafia, so they call their theft "Italian work". This is a typical and competent film about theft, with lively rhythm and strong story. It's a remake of 1969. The old version is more comic, and it is an action comedy classic in British film history, but the plot and rhythm are not as compact as the new version. The director of the remake is one of the two directors of the old film. Because the car chase scene in the old version is very attractive, the backbone of this scene has been preserved in the remake, but many breakthrough changes have been made in the details of the scene. Interestingly, the classic combination of michael caine, Norko Ward and Beni Hull, the main actors in the old version, can also be seen on the big TV screen in the new version. As a crime action movie closely related to cars, the criminals in the old and new versions all use BMW, but after 34 years, the classic BMW MINICOOPER sedan has also been updated, so the mini BMW in the new film has also been replaced by the latest model, so fans can feast their eyes. Due to the contract with Paramount, Edward Harrison Norton managed to play a supporting role. The boss of Paramount was so happy that he gave him a car of the same model as the mini BMW in this film, but he returned the car and said a lot of sarcasm, which was very evil.

Wonderful tidbits

Edward Harrison Norton said that he acted in this film because of the agreement, and he had no choice.

In this film, two electric Mini Cooper S and one mini coopers are specially produced, because the Los Angeles subway system does not allow gasoline-fueled vehicles.

The red Mini Cooper driven by Stella in the film was originally intended to allude to the movie of the same name of 1969, but this Mini Cooper is very different from the Mini Cooper in the movie of the same name of 1969. It was produced by Rover in the late 1990s, while in the original work, it was the Mini Cooper MK 1 produced by Austin.

Paramount was very dissatisfied with the box office performance of the film's first release, and it was released again at the end of August 2003.

Jason Statham mentioned in an interview that in addition to the stunt driving training that all the main actors had to receive at that time, he also had two extra days of special training under the guidance of damon hill, the former British world champion of F 1. However, among all the actors in this film, Charlize Theron is recognized as the best driver.

During the whole shooting period, the crew used 32 mini-cars.

Donna Powers and Wayne Powers, the screenwriters of this movie, had never seen the movie 1969 with the same name before they started the script of this movie, and only watched it once after that, because they didn't want to imitate it deliberately.

According to director F Gary Gray, it is the first time in film history that Hollywood Avenue was closed for seven days during filming.

Because the scene of the subway tunnel is huge and difficult to shoot, it can't be filmed in any studio in Los Angeles, so the crew set the scene in the hangar assembled by the first space shuttle.
