Find yourself a photographer.

I like traveling alone, and I like traveling with a tripod on my back. I am not a professional photographer. All photos are "feeling first". My request for tourism photography is purely to prevent ordinary tourists from taking pictures here. Many friends will ask me who will take pictures of me when I travel. My proud answer is selfie. Self-portraits are addictive. Only I know which angle looks the best (thinnest), which makes me reluctant to let others take pictures now. I spent a few days sorting out the past three solo trips and shared my experience of taking selfies with my friends for the reference of those in need.

Equipment items

Some people say that excellent portrait photos are often "modeling prerequisites". Yes, the goddess can shoot well without raiders. But the author is just an ordinary woman, and everyone is ordinary. Don't worry, this strategy is for everyone.

First of all, tripod will always be my good partner and my boyfriend. A tripod can fix your camera/mobile phone, allowing you to adjust the angle at will. Some people think that tripods are heavy and inconvenient, and they are afraid of safety problems. Some people like to relax, but they are not suitable for the back tripod. But some people want to take good photos, and even the heaviest equipment will be carried on their backs. I am a girl who walks around with a 0.8 kg tripod and manages it. As for law and order, everyone should measure the law and order in your place. I am in India and Sri Lanka, where there are few robberies and many people, so I don't pay much attention to this problem. But in South Africa, there are many robberies and few people. I am especially careful.

Cameras and mobile phones

I used Lumix GF 1+Zuiko digital suite 14-42 F3.5-5.6 when I was in Sri Lanka. This camera is an old model of seven years ago. I used Sony A7ii+voigtlander40.4 and iPhone 6s when I was in India and South Africa. By the way, my front lens only has manual focus and the aperture is only F 16. But I like its large aperture and the scattered scenery is very special. As for the iPhone 6s, I have a wide-angle lens 18mm, which has a wide field of vision.

Who pressed the shutter?

I use countdown for iPhone and Lumix, and I use Bluetooth remote control for Sony a7ii to press the shutter. The picture quality of the mobile phone may not be very good. My equipment is limited, but it is enough for what I want to shoot. After all, travel selfies still feel a prerequisite.

Do you want to take a selfie? Yes! Isn't there a very popular movie recently, in which a Japanese girl teaches people how to take selfies from different angles? If you don't want to take classic travel photos, you have to take some time to think about it. The idea process only takes a few seconds. In fact, you don't need professional photography knowledge and skills. Pay more attention to the works and follow your feelings, and you can make a good composition. If you train a pair of photographic eyes, you will get twice the result with half the effort.

1. Select a location

First of all, when you come to a place, you have to look around and find a suitable location. That position may be used to highlight yourself, or to make people shine at the sight of the scenery. You want to stand in the middle of the photo, what is on the left and right; It is close; Try it slowly, high or low. I think the simplest way to take a selfie is the feeling that the subject environment is small and the effect is a little big (laughs). Integration into the environment

It happens that my clothes are similar in color to the stones on the stone wall, creating a harmonious feeling. Better countdown, run to the middle immediately, click. This position can be used to highlight yourself.

The background castle is the main color of ivory. I wore a red skirt that day and adjusted it. I think photos can highlight the main body.

The composition method of small theme and big environment has low requirements on the appearance of the model (mother's face can't be seen at all), which can increase the three-dimensional sense of the photo and bring the effect of derailment.

2. Make good use of tools or flowers around you

Pick up a dead branch and pretend to be childlike, and the Japanese feeling will come out immediately.

Put the lens in a pile of leaves, and the leaves are used as the foreground to focus on yourself and make the artistic conception of the forest department.

Sitting on the trunk (this tree should be a shrub, and my legs are as thick as them). I like to take pictures in the shade, and the scattered leaves have a beautiful feeling.

3. How to pose

At this moment, all you need is courage. When you are a supermodel, you can imagine all kinds of poses.

I studied Bollywood dance for three months, and taking pictures is very useful.

4. Backlight processing, usually done directly when there is backlight.

Or turn the photos into black and white later, which is disgusting!

5. Random focusing

Close-up portrait photography is difficult because of self-timer. It is easy to lose focus when taking a countdown selfie with an automatic kit mirror. So I call these photos random focus. Usually turn it to the maximum aperture, hoping to achieve a shallow depth of field in the case of self-timer (but it's really too difficult)

My Frent mirror is a manual mirror. If I want to take a close-up, I must keep trying to keep a distance from the camera to get the focus.

Sometimes I am lazy, so my recent photos sometimes use iPhone.

6. Adjust parameters

Generally speaking, if I want to take a wide view, I will reduce the aperture, but because the aperture of my Frent lens is only F 16, sometimes the enlarged photos are a little blurred in some places. In Sri Lanka, it is more convenient to use automatic mirrors. When there are many people and cars, you can slow down the shutter at this time.

This photo is not very good. When I tried shooting again, it rained heavily. However, let us refer to it. People can choose this method for a long time, and they can have a sense of mobility. Low ISO and small aperture will slow down the shutter.

7. Late stage

In fact, the later period is really important, which determines your photo style. Professional photographers who know about travel use Photoshop or lightroom to process travel photos every day. However, for me who moves a lot, it will be awkward to bring my computer with me. So I usually use app to process photos. On the app side, I often use snapseed and Vsco Cam filters.

My public face only depends on clothes. I like red (that's why I changed the name of Herch Traveller), and I like to wear red skirts. A bright dress can add more color to a photo.

I still have a lot of ideas about composition, such as shooting as directly as possible. Of course, besides taking selfies, I also like to take portraits of local people. Recently, an 85mm fixed-focus lens has been added. Photography is really poor for three generations. Finally, the above experience hopes to provide reference for everyone to take a selfie! Ordinary girls like me can also make sentimental movies, and I believe everyone can! However, I am worried that after people get used to taking selfies, they will not get used to others taking pictures of you. Because other people's angles are always inferior to their own, hehe.

P.S. After all, there are many technical restrictions on self-photographing, and the parameters are for reference only. Everyone should pay attention to safety when using tripods.
