When the water in the cave and the top of the cave slowly leaks downwards, the calcium bicarbonate hidden in the water will have the above reaction! After a long time, the sediments at the top of the cave will form stalactites, and correspondingly, the sediments at the bottom of the cave will form stalagmites. When stalactites and stalagmites are connected, they will form stone pillars.
