Just like taking a night scene, taking a fireworks photo requires a long exposure. Therefore, a stable tripod is essential to shoot fireworks well. In addition, in order to avoid shaking the camera when pressing the shutter, and to facilitate the use of B shutter+black card, the cable should also be used in conjunction with the release. Therefore, it is suggested that the equipment for setting off fireworks is:

Like the night scene, in order to get a clear and sharp image, it is recommended to use a small aperture, F/8-F/ 16 is better.

Shutter can be regarded as the most important element in fireworks shooting. To capture the moment of fireworks explosion, the shutter must be controlled well. In addition to the general semi-automatic modes such as aperture priority and shutter priority, it is recommended to use the "B shutter /T shutter" which is also available in most SLR. In this mode, you can freely control the exposure time of the camera. As long as you keep pressing the shutter release button/cable to release, the camera shutter will continue to open and keep the exposure, so that you can shoot the whole scene of fireworks blooming.

International Organization for Standardization (ISO)

Just like shooting at night, low ISO (sensitivity) is better, because it can keep the photos delicate, with less noise and better picture quality.

Because the fireworks explosion method is instantaneous, autofocus can't catch up. Therefore, it is recommended that you use manual focusing, and turn the focus ring of the lens to focus to infinity (if the lens has no focus scale, you can use autofocus first, focus to a far place and then switch to manual focusing). After focusing, be careful not to turn the focusing ring again, or you will lose focus.

Application of Black Card in Setting off Fireworks

In addition to the tripod and shutter, another soul for shooting fireworks is the black card. Because we can't fully grasp the exposure time of fireworks when shooting, we need the cooperation of black cards. When the fireworks didn't explode, we had already opened the shutter (using B shutter /T shutter) and covered the lens with a black card, so that the light couldn't enter the camera, just like closing the shutter, but when the fireworks exploded, we immediately took the black card away for exposure.

Using the same method, if we want multiple fireworks in the picture, we can repeat the above steps. But note that we need to remember the most appropriate total exposure time by ourselves, and it is best not to deviate too much or too little.

Of course, there are other special shooting methods for shooting fireworks, including intentional defocusing and explosion.

Things to pay attention to when shooting smoke:

1. Strive for a favorable position to shoot the whole fireworks before the fireworks show; If there is a crowd in front, you may wish to take pictures of people watching fireworks as a foreground;

2. Pay close attention to the position of multiple fireworks. If the fireworks are repeated too much, the photos will be chaotic, but not good-looking;

3. Choice of focal length-telephoto or wide angle can be used, and there is no limit. According to the environment at that time, it is recommended to shoot at both focal lengths.
