Cheng Kui’an’s early life

Cheng Kui'an is an aboriginal resident of the New Territories and a true farmer's boy. In 1968, 13-year-old Cheng Kuian was forced to drop out of school because his family was too poor to pay tuition. After dropping out of school, his brother worked as a technician in a film company and brought him into the industry. From then on, he worked as a part-time worker and extra in the photography team of Shaw Brothers Film Studio. However, after working for a while, he felt that there was no future in photography. Not anymore. In 1972, 17-year-old Cheng Kuian joined the underworld and worked as a dance hall thug. He was later arrested by the police and sentenced to four years in prison (actually he only served two years and eight months in prison). After serving his sentence, when Cheng Kui'an returned to the Shaw Brothers Film Studio, he met Liang Xiaolong, who was a martial arts instructor at Asia Television, and he followed him as a dragon and tiger martial artist. It was not until 1978 that he was discovered by Lee Xiuxian to make movies. Since then, he has become an actor and began to perform in movies.
