Is it enough to travel with only 50mm standard lens?
When traveling, if you don't take a few lenses, you'd better take a zoom lens.
For a full-frame camera,
A lens like 24-70 can be used at home, and it's a bit short to travel without changing the lens. For example, if you see a seagull flying by, it won't stand out enough, and a 50% discount will be much easier to use.
Although the lens of 28-300 has a long focal length, the wide-angle end is insufficient. If you go to some streets and narrow mountain roads, taking pictures becomes a problem. Sometimes space is limited, and it won't let you retreat to the distance you want to shoot. At this time, 24 wide angle is much better.
The best choice is 24- 120. The picture quality is also good, wide angle, standard and telephoto.
If you use such a good SLR as d750, don't walk on the road. You can't take pictures when you see something. This is a frustrating journey!
If you must bring a fixed focus, can you use a 35mm one? The viewing angle of 50 is too narrow, sweeping the street is ok, but traveling is not. For example, if you go to the Yellow Crane Tower to take a panoramic view, do you have to retreat to a far, far place to use 50 shots? The distance is unimaginable.
Going to a place is a kind of fate, and this fate does not necessarily have a second time. Don't miss those beautiful scenery.
I hope you have a pleasant trip.
Is it enough to travel with only 50mm standard lens?
Is it feasible to reduce the travel burden by only taking d750 and a 50mmf 1.4? Will you miss many scenes?
Tourism photography, the general shooting objectives are as follows: first, natural scenery, second, human activities, third, people take pictures, fourth, animal activities are less, and so on.
In the face of these shooting targets, it is obviously not enough to bring only 50 fixed-focus lenses.
One suggestion is to bring a 24-70/2.8 lens. This lens can take into account the scenery, humanities and portraits, and it can be near or far, with certain adjustment space.
The second suggestion is to bring a 70-200/2.8 lens. This lens is better than 24-70/2.8 in cultural activities and people's photos, especially when shooting sunrise and sunset in the morning, the image is more delicate and realistic.
Thirdly, if fixed focus is considered, the focal length should be between 85- 120.
Generally speaking, the focal length of the lens is at least medium focus, so zooming is more convenient. In the final plan, we should give consideration to the total load, and don't have to be greedy for perfection and spend everything.
I am 70 years old and love photography travel. I am a Nikon party. At present, the main model is D850 and the auxiliary machine is D6 10. The common combinations when going out are D850+70-200 2.8 and D6 10+24-70 2.8, and then I will bring another Nikon AF 18-35 most of the time. 18-35 is used to shoot big scenes, and 35 1.4 is used to shoot night scenes and humanities, but in more than 90% of cases, you don't need to change the lens. The utilization rate of the other two lenses is very low, which is needed in some special situations. As for the title, I seldom take it with me when I travel, because it is almost useless, especially for people like me who like to take pictures of scenery. From my personal point of view, it is obviously inconvenient to go out with only 50 heads, and you will miss a lot of beautiful scenery. When traveling, what I record most is scenery and people. At present, I mainly use 24-70 2.8 and 70-200 2.8 to shoot landscapes, and the utilization rate of 70-200 2.8 is higher. (The following four photos were recently taken in the western Sichuan Plateau with Nikon D850+70-200 2.8 lens combination. )
I think it is more appropriate to bring a zoom, especially 24- 120.
We often recommend fixed-focus lenses when shooting certain subjects, such as portraits and still lives, because the subjects are relatively fixed and do not need flexible focal length changes. The large aperture and excellent image quality of the fixed-focus lens can better express the shooting content.
However, in tourism shooting, under the premise that only one shot can be shot, the tourist head has an innate advantage-more comprehensive focus coverage.
For example, 24- 120, even 24-70 and so on. Wide coverage angle and large shooting scene.
Standard focus, documentary, humanities and close-ups can all be competent.
Medium telephoto, portraits, including scenery, all performed well.
Therefore, this kind of lens is called "hanging up the tourist's head". Although the lens quality is not very good, its adaptability to different scenes is excellent.
Let's talk about shooting first, and then consider whether shooting is good or not. This order will not change.
Don't want to change the lens, it is recommended to bring a hanging zoom lens.
If there is a need for blur of large aperture, we can make up for it by using the blur characteristics brought by telephoto segment, and it still has certain effects, such as portrait still life. Controlling the shooting distance and shooting with telephoto end will also have a good blur effect.

Personal opinion, welcome to correct me.
Answer first: only 50mm lens is enough for travel.
Spit out again: there are many answers and many monsters. The question is about a 50mm lens, but many people forget it without answering it, and they still recommend zooming. I don't know what to think.
What's even more frightening is that some people say that the 50mm lens can't be taken clearly. I'm afraid I've been taking pictures in the cloud on the Internet.
Let's look at an unclear photo, which was taken from Yubei, Chongqing.
In 2004, I took two cameras, Kangtaishi Aria+ Kangtaishi 50mm/ 1.4 and Kangtaishi T3(35mm/2.8 lens), and wandered in China for more than 100 days. The photo above was taken with 50 mm at that time.
Because it is backpacking, portability is the primary consideration, especially for film shooting, the weight and volume of film are not small, so we choose the configuration of SLR with one machine and one mirror and small side shaft.
During more than 100 days of shooting, I didn't feel that this configuration was not enough.
When shooting in a strange environment, the 50mm lens is the most comfortable lens to use, while the 35mm lens is more aggressive because it needs to be closer to the subject. So it is much better to use a smaller side shaft.
No matter how long the focal length of the lens is, it will not be conducive to the interpretation of the environment, especially in the old city.
As for the photographer who can't explain clearly, that's even more nonsense. As long as there is no quality problem in any modern lens, it is impossible to have the problem of unclear shooting. If you really can't shoot clearly, it's probably not a lens problem, but a person's problem.
The 50 mm lens has several irreplaceable advantages:
The first is the high quality of lens imaging. A standard lens is called a standard lens, and the standard of lens imaging is also appropriate. Due to the mature structure and simple fabrication, both resolution and optical deformation are at the first-class level.
Secondly, the volume is well controlled. The 50mm lens is not the smallest lens, but it is definitely not a big lens. Especially compared with zoom lens, it has great advantages in volume, and the smaller the size, the better.
Finally, the cost performance is high. 50mm is almost the most cost-effective lens. 500 yuan's Canon spittoon has an aperture of 1.8, which is an advantage that all other focal length lenses do not have. And with such a cheap lens, the imaging quality is not bad. If you choose STM version, the focus is not bad.
I know, many people say that cost-effective photographic equipment is rubbish. This is true from the perspective of toys or X-packs, but from the perspective of tools, as long as you can do it well and achieve your goals, the cheaper the better.
As for the single angle of view of fixed-focus lens, it is also easy to solve. Now the camera function of mobile phone is so "powerful" that it can completely replace the role of small side shaft and act as a small camera for personal use. In particular, most mobile phones can also shoot RAW format, and there is no problem in the later stage.
A camera is equipped with a 50mm lens, mainly shooting; Add a mobile phone to supplement the wide angle, and you can also shoot materials and videos. This configuration is very practical for travel.
My own Kangtaishi 50mm/ 1.4 has been used for nearly 20 years, and the configuration of the fuselage has been changed to five or six, but it is still shooting normally, showing strong quality.
The above picture was taken in the streets of Tianjin some time ago, but it is still unclear, so let everyone laugh.
Old horse's point of view answers you.
According to my understanding and habit, it is enough to take a 50 mm fixed focus when going out. Of course, if you are a beginner, if you want to be cool, it's none of others' business to bring all the long guns and short guns.
Tell the truth. Every photographer can't be omnipotent. In other words, you can't be a master of portrait photography, landscape photography, or a famous figure in bird shooting and street sweeping. In the same way. The zoom lens you hold can't be clear and perfect at both the near focus and the far focus.
In that case, why not take a 50 mm fixed focus?
I think it's enough and light enough, especially for an elderly photographer. I only take 5D3 and 50 F 1.8stm to shoot when I go out, and cut it as needed when I come back. Send some photos taken in Thailand to share with you.
If I go out, it's enough to bring only one mobile phone!
Traveling is a very pleasant and happy thing. It is the most pleasant thing to record and photograph the beautiful scenery all the way. In this case, you should bring a better lens. If you are traveling alone, I strongly recommend one of the big ternary lenses, the standard universal lens 24-70/2.8. Canon Nikon has this good lens. When traveling, you will definitely take pictures of scenery, portraits, humanities, street shooting, documentaries, records, local customs, ethnic customs, food, urban scenery, rural beauty and so on. This 24-70/2.8, known as the "tiger balm" lens, can definitely win. Choosing it is the most ideal and perfect lens for your travel.
