An Analysis of the Ending of Secret Corner

The finale of "Hidden Corner" is presented to everyone in the simplest way: Zhang Dongsheng deserved it and was shot by the police; Pope saved his brother with money; Yan Liang stayed with Mr. Chen and told him that he wanted to be a policeman when he grew up. Zhu Chaoyang started his life again.

Although the Hidden Corner seems to be a perfect ending in the end, there are actually many details to show that it is more in line with the original. In the original work, Zhu Chaoyang whitewashes himself with his diary, and the story presented in the play is that Zhu Chaoyang beautifies himself in his diary.

At the end of this story, Pupu and Yan Liang are still alive, but the fact is that they are both dead. Pope has almost no scenes in the last two episodes, which is not the treatment that a living protagonist should have. When Yan Liang finally entered the school, everyone could not see him, only Zhu Chaoyang saw him.

As you can see from here, Yan Liang is also dead. This beautiful scene only appears in Zhu Chaoyang's fairy tales, but the reality is often dark and cruel.

"Hidden Corner" Series Highlights

The hidden corner observes the family and the adult world from the perspective of children. Three children are more like a window to observe the world, from which we can see some deviations in the name of love, such as possessive maternal love, jealousy of the silent and paranoia of the inferior. These emotions swing between the good and evil of human nature, which makes the audience have a hidden warning in the process of watching the drama.

The drama continues the "dark style" in plot, photography, soundtrack and style, and also tries to get out of a solid creative concept and establish closer ties with real life. It touches all levels of the social crowd and the smallest social cell, giving a true portrayal of single-parent families, middle-aged marriages, middle-aged crises, especially juvenile delinquency.
