Zhou Kang: Shanghainese, member of China Photographers Association. Distinguished Director of Culture, school of visual arts Institute of Cultural Industry, Fudan University. Graduation design tutor of photography department, School of Art and Design, Shanghai University of Engineering Science; Member of China Photographers Association. His works have been selected into various photography exhibitions at home and abroad for many times, and have been held in Shanghai Art Museum, Pingyao Photography Festival and San Francisco Art Museum for many times. Participated in the filming of "Shanghai Centennial Style" and several important picture books.

There is also a subject behind the photographic machine-people. People grasp external images not only by their eyes, but also by their hearts. The so-called image is born from the heart. Approaching Zhou Kang's photography, we should understand that photography can also be "freehand brushwork". However, this kind of freehand brushwork does not rely on the pre-arrangement of "intentional pen first" or the post-editing of "computer stunts", but on the integration and communication of mind and things.

Photography is a kind of "instantaneous art", and the result is often born in an instant, which is faster than the transmission of ideas in the cerebral cortex. In this sense, photography can hardly resort to shrewd calculation, so it is more "freehand" than painting!

After a long period of exploration, Zhou Kang has truly and freehand collected magnificent snow-capped mountains and bustling cities, gorgeous skies and faint people, desert autumn wind in the north, apricot flowers and spring rain in the south of the Yangtze River, and selected several natural and humanistic fragments for us to read carefully and appreciate the long poem through the rotation of light and shadow.

Apart from the infinite scenery gathered from a vast area, it is the impression of Zhou Kang that can better explain the grand vision of Shanghai becoming an international creative metropolis. Although those impressions are only Shanghai in Zhou Kang's eyes, they are enough to bear the function of Shanghai's city card. If Asking for Heaven, which shows the charm of Jinmao Tower, and Fantasia East Shanghai, which shows Cai Hua in Lujiazui, Pudong, are only partial to external momentum, exquisiteness and integration, then Witness, which stands tall and straight together with the statue of Chen Yi, the first mayor of Shanghai after liberation, is an artistic building with profound humanistic connotation. It can't be ignored that there is an electronic probe at the top of the picture, quietly guarding an inconspicuous place, so the historical context from Peace Hotel to Mayor Chen Yi has continued to the present, and the works have also combed out the characteristics of the new era while witnessing the history. "Witness" takes the electronic probe as a footnote, and the voice-over is more intriguing and the subtext is more subtle.

Zhou Kang succeeded and was comforted and praised, but he was not satisfied. The world in front of us is broader, and the problems worth exploring technically are richer, more complex and more subtle.
