Raw salt is a necessity for human survival and an important industrial raw material. The salt production industry that uses seawater as raw material generally adopts the method of spreading out the sun in our country. There is a photographer Ji Kun (Mipai ID: Ji Kun) in Dongying, Shandong Province, who went deep into the salt field to take real-life photos of workers’ daily lives.
Yoshi Kun said that he did not deliberately go to photograph this salt field at first, but later he discovered this place by chance. Looking at the working process of the salt field and the living conditions of the workers, he wanted to record it.
He introduced to me that the salt production industry that uses seawater as raw material generally adopts the method of beach drying in our country. The general production process of this salt farm is: receiving tide, making brine, crystallizing, and stacking. . Salt is produced twice every year in June and October. The time of salt production is the busiest and most tiring time.
The staff in this factory are all migrant workers, and their daily work is monotonous and hard. Basically, each person is responsible for an average of four salt fields of about 12 acres. They have to plow the fields manually every morning to prevent the salt from clumping together. If it rains, cover the salt field with a covering cloth and then open it after the rain stops.

Under the photographer's lens, the rough and messy saltworks scene gives people a neat and clean feeling. The moments of labor are also extremely precious.
Yoshikun's father is a painter, and he has been influenced by it since he was a child, so his painting skills also help him to compose photography. Now he is an oil field employee and usually goes out to take photos whenever he has free time.
He chose to shoot many ordinary but real scenes. All the photos were taken with Canon 5D3, and later converted to simulated black and white film by PS. Although the shooting only took two days, it still needs A lot of details to complete.
The process of making salt is very hard, and the workers’ hands become extremely wrinkled. He said he planned to take long-term photos of the life and working conditions of saltworks workers.
