Lv Nan-known as "the most legendary photographer in China". He seems to be more famous in the art circle than photography. His early photographic work "The Unknown Mountain is one meter high" has become one of the most classic photos in the history of contemporary art in China. Lv Nan was also the first China photographer to be photographed by the famous "magnum photos". He is also the only contemporary photographer in China who was published as a special topic by American Aperture magazine. Numerous film festivals (art exhibitions) invited him to participate, and he almost refused without exception! Lv Nan also refuses to be photographed by others, so people can hardly see personal video materials about him. 15 years, he lived, worked and studied like an ascetic, and he firmly believed that "good things are done in silence".

Starting from 1989, it took Lv Nan 15 years to complete his epic trilogy —— The Living Condition of the Forgotten Man —— China Mental Patient, On the Road —— Catholicism in China and Four Seasons —— Daily Life of Tibetan Farmers. These three works "seem to symbolize today's human mental state and the return of the great human spirit that Lv Nan expected" (in Li Xianting's language).

From 1996 to 2004, Lv Nan filmed his most important work "Four Seasons-Daily Life of Tibetan Farmers" only in Tibet. For seven years, he spent at least half of his time in Tibet almost every year. At most, he worked in Tibet for nine months. He filmed four complete autumn harvests and two spring sowing; In more than 40 villages he photographed, each village is above 4000 meters above sea level, and almost every day he braved sandstorms to go back and forth between the shooting location and the resident. In his "rest" time, he also studied Plato and Goethe's works and listened to Bach's music. It is these "great works" that are almost forgotten by "contemporary people" that have become the spiritual motive force for Lv Nan to enter Tibet. He said that it was Goethe and Bach who supported his life and work in Tibet, gave him great nutrition and kept him religious.

In the village he filmed, Lv Nan also had the nickname "Doctor God". In some rural areas of Tibet, it is difficult to see a doctor. Every time he returns to the village, Lv Nan will bring all kinds of medicines to the villagers. He also taught himself a lot of medical knowledge and treated the villagers after filming. After a long time, he became a "magic doctor."
