Instructions for the publication of the newly compiled dictionary for primary school students

According to the instruction of the Ministry of Education, the newly edited Dictionary for Primary School Students was compiled to implement the suggestion of China People's Political Consultative Conference on compiling a Chinese dictionary suitable for primary school students. The dictionary was published in version 1983 1, and was revised twice 1990 and 1999. Since its publication, it has been deeply loved by readers and praised by the society for its distinctive features. He has won the national best-seller award 1987, the first prize of the first national education book 1988 and the first China dictionary award 1995.

In order to make this dictionary better serve primary school students and primary school teaching in China, we revised it on the basis of the third edition 1999. The revised scope is relatively large, and the contents mainly include the following aspects:

First, according to the latest textbooks and extracurricular reading materials for primary school Chinese and other subjects, prefixes and entries have been added or deleted to some extent. The book has more than 7,000 words and 40,000 entries (including more than 5,000 idioms). In order to save space, make it easier for students to form words and enlarge their vocabulary, words with definite meaning are generally not defined, but words containing the word are listed after the prefix.

Secondly, the original explanation and examples are comprehensively investigated, so that they are scientific, accurate and concise, and reflect the times. This paper explores and innovates the explanation mode of biology, chemistry and other projects, which enhances the knowledge, life and interest.

Third, focus on standardization. Comprehensively and correctly implement various language and writing norms promulgated by the state, such as the unified radical arrangement table of Chinese characters GB 13000? 1 character set, Chinese character radical specification, the first batch of variant forms, etc.

4. Exquisite illustrations are arranged to enhance the intuition and vividness of the text. The original illustrations were added and deleted, and all the hand-painted illustrations were changed into color pictures. There are more than 500 illustrations in the book, involving animals, plants, military, historical relics, places of interest, mountains and rivers, etc. , provided by domestic first-class professional photographers and experts in related fields.

Fifth, combined with the teaching practice, increase practical links and enhance the learning function. Add a column of "Bi Yi Bi" to distinguish the pronunciations and glyphs of words that are easy to be mistaken and confused; Add "stroke order" and "attention" columns to prompt the writing and wording of words; Add a column of "discrimination" to discriminate the meanings of words that are easy to be confused and wrong; Add a column of "Little Knowledge" to explain the motivation of word formation, the origin of words, and the linguistic and cultural knowledge related to words.

6. Some commonly used appendices have been added, such as National Anthem of the People's Republic of China, Chinese Young Pioneers Team Song, China World Cultural Heritage, World Natural Heritage and Common Traffic Signs. , and some appendices in the 1 version have been restored and revised, such as the short list of parts of speech names and the short list of legal units of measurement in China.

In addition, the style of the original dictionary has also been adjusted.

This revision began in 2006 and lasted for four years. In the process of revision, it received the guidance and strong support from the leaders of the Language Information Management Department of the Ministry of Education and People's Education Publishing House, and received strong support from many experts from the Institute of Linguistics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Chinese Department of Peking University, the College of Literature of Beijing Normal University and the China Dictionary Society. It has received strong support from experts such as Institute of Botany of Chinese Academy of Sciences, School of Life Sciences of Beijing Normal University, China Photographers Association, Shanghai Eco-vision Studio, Wild China Studio, and China News Photo Network, as well as editing rooms, reading rooms of Chinese, mathematics, biology, chemistry, history, geography, maps and music of People's Education Press, and art design departments and publishing departments of People's Education Press textbook center. Li Yunlong and Xu Xiangdong participated in some revisions, and Shi Jiepeng wrote some words.
