What's the difference between these images on Canon SLR? What are they suitable for?

1. First of all, SLR cameras of Canon cameras can generally store both RAW and JPG formats at the same time. RAW format can't be opened directly by computer, and it needs to be read by the software that comes with the purchase machine or the new PS version. In addition, you can install third-party picture viewing software to open it. JPG format can be opened directly or previewed on the icon.

2. Secondly, this interface can be set from two aspects: when shooting, you can save RAW format or JPG format separately, or you can save both formats at the same time (a photo will see two files in the card). When saving in RAW or JPG format, you can set the image quality or resolution. For example, in the RAW column above, RAW is the highest resolution, M RAW is the medium resolution, and S RAW is the lowest resolution (the lower the resolution, the fewer pixels, the smaller the image and the smaller the file).

3. Then in the JPEG column below, L is the highest resolution, M is the medium resolution, and S is the low resolution. At the same time, each resolution is divided into two files: high quality and low quality. In the second box, files with some jagged icons are of low quality, so the stored file size will be smaller and the quality tolerance will be lower (although it is difficult for the naked eye to recognize). General professional photographers will choose the RAW format with the highest storage resolution. Although the file size is large, it is troublesome to open the file, but it retains more image information, which is convenient for lossless adjustment in the later stage.

Knowledge expansion:

The file suffix of RAW format stored by Canon camera is CR2, and the file suffix of Nikon camera is NEF. File suffixes are different, but they are all in RAW format.
