What kind of plant is dragonflies?

It should be kumquat. In many bonsai materials, "pure cliff mountain dragon orange" is common, and this dragon orange should be panlong orange.

Panlongju, a precious bonsai tree species in Lingnan.

Not long ago, after years of searching by the staff of Guifengshan National Forest Park Management Committee in Xinhui, the Yashan specialty Panlong Orange held by Premier Zhou in Yashan Temple was recovered after decades of loss. At present, as one of the important historical objects to witness Premier Zhou's inspection of Yashan Temple, together with Premier Zhou's precious historical photos in Yashan Temple, it is now collected and displayed in Panlongshan Orange Garden in Yamen Sea Battle Cultural Tourism Zone in Song and Yuan Dynasties for visitors to enjoy.

The legendary Yashan Panlong Orange

The Yamen naval battle that happened here more than 700 years ago shocked the replacement of Song and Yuan Dynasties. In the Yashan area where the imperial court built a palace to direct the anti-Yuan movement, there was a strange small shrub called Panlong Orange (Tang Long Orange). It is strange because this small shrub is different from similar plants in other places in three ways: first, its tree shape is short and dense, and its branches are vigorous and tortuous; Secondly, it is especially resistant to salt and wind; The most special thing is that from the root to the stem, there are often lines like dragons winding, with heads and tails, bodies and claws. Longlin suddenly appeared, with strange shapes and different trees, each with its own characteristics and lifelike appearance. Because the tree is covered with dragon patterns, it is called Panlong Orange by the people and has become the first choice for people to cultivate bonsai.

What makes Yashan Panlong Orange famous all over the world is its strange relationship with Zhao Min, the last emperor of the Southern Song Dynasty. According to local folklore, 728 years ago, in the second year of Xiangxing in the Southern Song Dynasty, Shaodi Min, under the protection of Empress Yang, Lu Xiufu, Zhang Shijie and other civil and military ministers, built a palace in Cliff Mountain of Xinhui, and assembled and commanded more than 200,000 soldiers and civilians to resist the invasion of the Yuan Army. One day, Emperor Song Mingdi and other officials were patrolling the coastal defense of Cliff Mountain when they were caught in a rainstorm. The monarchs and ministers of the Southern Song Dynasty who forgot to bring rain gear and umbrellas could not escape. They were all soaked to the skin. Back to the bedroom, after a storm comes a calm, eunuchs and ladies-in-waiting hurriedly hung Min's wet robe on the orange tree beside the palace. When it was time to collect the dragon robe, the maid-in-waiting found that the dragon embroidered on the dragon robe was gone. This matter is very important. The maid-in-waiting quickly went to citrus reticulata, who hung the dragon robe, to find out. A closer look shows that all the dragons are wrapped around dried oranges. It turned out that the sunshine was particularly fierce after the rain, and the dragon on the dragon robe was too hot to stop, so it was wrapped around the orange tree under the dragon robe to enjoy the cool. I didn't expect the robe to dry up, and the ladies-in-waiting collected it too quickly, and Panlong didn't have time to return it. From then on, Panlong had to obediently stay in Yashan Orange forever.

The above are myths and legends, but they have placed people's reverence for the great patriotism of the Southern Song Dynasty, that is, the enemies of the monarch, the minister, the army and the people are mighty and unyielding at present, and they are determined to resist the Yuan army to the death, preferring to die unyieldingly rather than completely, and "keep their hearts and shine their history."

Panlong orange appreciated by Premier Zhou was taken back.

The reason why Yashan Panlong Orange is famous in the world is because of that magical legend, and it is also related to a great man-from July 65438 to July 7, 0958, dear Premier Zhou Enlai visited Xinhui for 7 days. On July 4th, Premier Zhou paid a visit to Changfeng Agricultural Cooperative in Yadong Village (now Guanchong Village) of Gujing Town. Premier Zhou, who was 60 years old, braved the scorching heat, went down to the fields and climbed the hillside, and highly praised the high-spirited efforts of local cadres and masses to transform barren hills, plant large crops, process handicrafts, support national construction and increase economic income. When he came to the former site of Yashan Temple next to Guanchong Village, the local villagers accompanied the Prime Minister to watch Yashan Panlong Orange, and brought two dried Panlong oranges with the thickness of the handle for the Prime Minister's appreciation. While listening carefully to the villagers' introduction of the magical legend of Panlong Orange, the Prime Minister carefully studied a Panlong Orange handed over by the masses, and then said with a hearty smile, there are several lines. Cai Zhongzhi, a photographer from Guangdong Branch of Xinhua News Agency who accompanied the interview at that time, lost no time in pressing the camera shutter and left us two precious photos of Premier Zhou and Xinhui farmers enjoying Panlong Orange in Yashan (see attached photo). Since then, Yashan Panlong Citrus has become more famous. After the Prime Minister returned to Beijing, the local villagers cherished these two Panlong oranges. However, due to the influence of the "Cultural Revolution" in the last century, the two Panlong oranges that Premier Zhou once watched disappeared.

After entering the new century, the management committee of Guifengshan National Forest Park organized the activity of "Premier Zhou Enlai visited Xinhui Memorial Hall" in the original building of Xinhui Labor University visited by Premier Zhou in 2002, according to the deployment of Xinhui District Committee and Government and the earnest wishes of the broad masses of cadres and people. Later, the Yashan Temple, which was built in the Ming Dynasty and has a history of more than 500 years, was renovated and expanded into the Yamen Sea Battle Cultural Tourism Zone in the Song and Yuan Dynasties. During the preparation and expansion of the above two projects, the staff of Guifeng Party and Government Office tried their best to find a number of historical relics when the Prime Minister visited Xinhui. Fortunately, with the support and help of Gu Jing Town Committee, the town government and local enthusiastic villagers, the Panlong orange that Premier Zhou watched that year was recovered. Although these two Panlong oranges have been wandering among the people for decades, they are still intact, as bright as new, with prominent dragon patterns, just like the historical photos of that year. Recently, the Tourism Office of Guifeng Management Committee handed over this precious cultural relic to Yamen ancient battlefield scenic spot in Song and Yuan Dynasties and displayed it beside Panlong Mountain Orange Garden for more tourists to enjoy.

The endangered Panlong orange came back to life. Yashan Temple welcomes guests with oranges all over the sky.

Yashan Panlong Citrus Tree is vigorous, which is an excellent tree species in potted art. Its trunk and roots have dragon patterns, and it is a good material for making walking sticks, cigarette holders, pipes and tobacco stems. More strangely, it is said that when smokers smoke, there is a lingering orange smell in the smoke, which not only reduces the spicy taste of the smoke, but also makes the smoke more mellow and less phlegm. And because Panlong oranges are only distributed in a small area around Ya Mountain in Shan Ye, the number is not much. Because it not only has high ornamental value, but also has practical and medicinal value, it has been cut down and excavated in large quantities and is almost extinct. Fortunately, there is a concerned villager near Yashan Temple, who is anxious when he sees it. Over the years, he has paid attention to finding and carefully maintaining hundreds of pots of Yashan native panlong oranges in his home. In 2005, during the renovation and expansion of the Yamen Sea Battle Cultural Tourism Zone in the Song and Yuan Dynasties, the villagers moved these surviving Panlong Oranges, and the construction unit specially built a unique Dragon Oranges Garden next to the bedroom. Strange to say, these dragonflies have not borne fruit for many years, but they have been transplanted to the restored and expanded Yashan Temple. For two years in a row, at the end of each year and the beginning of each year, the trees were covered with star-like golden orange fruits. It is said that this auspicious and beautiful phenomenon will only occur in the prosperous times.
