The new Yunnan Provincial Museum is located in Kunming, with Guangfu Road in the north and Baoxiang River in the west. The total area is 60,000 square meters and the total height of the building is 34.2 meters. The architectural concept of the new museum comes from the natural posture of the famous "Stone Forest" in Yunnan, with a square plane and a "Hui" shape, which is based on the traditional folk architecture of the Yi people in Yunnan. The building runs through multiple layers of long and narrow joint shapes, showing the rugged posture characteristics of the stone forest after weathering. The outer wall is a copper-colored aluminum perforated plate, and each aluminum metal plate is perforated, and each hole is different. Different angles, different permeability, different light and different time periods will show endless artistic beauty, which implies the profound connotation of the red soil plateau.
Entering the museum, it is a lobby with an open area of 1600 square meters. The perforated metal plates on three sides pour down, which is full of vertical visual sense. Four skylights at the top and four courtyards full of plants ensure good lighting and wind collection, making it a "breathing museum". The hollow roof improves the utilization rate of natural light, and all indoor public walkways in the museum adopt natural lighting design to realize natural lighting. The 4000m2 exhibition hall with basic exhibition and theme exhibition on the second and third floors is divided into four space units of different sizes, which just divides the continuous main exhibition into exhibition rhythm and improves the visiting effect. Since its establishment, Yunnan Provincial Museum has collected 226,660 pieces (sets) of bronzes, ancient coins, ceramics, Gu Shuhua, rubbings, stamps and various handicrafts. Today's Yunnan Provincial Museum is no longer simply displaying cultural relics, so it is very important to restore historical scenes and sort out the exhibition function of great history.
