Why do I like Hangzhou?
Taking the city center as the origin, you can go fishing in the sea to the east, go boating on the lake to the west, watch the tide on the river to the south, and sail to the Imperial Capital to the north.
There are Fuchun River, Xin 'anjiang River and Qiandao Lake along the Qiantang River. Rivers, lakes and seas converge into a city. Can you find a second city like this?
Hangzhou is a landscape city.
Hangzhou is the most misunderstood city in Jiangnan. Because it is located in the south of the Yangtze River, and because of the well-known saying that "there is heaven above and Suzhou and Hangzhou below", it has always been mistaken for identical twins in Suzhou. I went to Hangzhou with such expectations, and I was disappointed after I went there. I just want to say that Hangzhou is so unfair. Hangzhou is not as famous for its gardens as Suzhou. Hangzhou is famous for its mountains and rivers. There are many scenic spots in the West Lake, but it can't be regarded as a scenic spot, because it has no walls, and it is not isolated from the city like other gardens (such as the Slender West Lake, such as the Summer Palace), so you need to buy tickets to enter and leave. So the Slender West Lake is a garden, but it is not, which has nothing to do with its thinness. It is not a park, but a public urban landscape, just like Chang 'an Avenue is both a tourist destination and a main road of the city. West Lake is the real mountain and water for Hangzhou citizens. So Hangzhou can be said to be a landscape city.
Hangzhou is a humanistic city.
Hangzhou is very lucky. Su Dongpo and Bai Juyi, officials in the history of Hangzhou, both wrote poems while dredging the West Lake. There were only literati in Hangzhou, but then the humanities were accidentally reversed. Therefore, it is no exaggeration to say that Hangzhou was held up by ancient literati. It is hard to find so many hymns in the second lake, although I am curious about how the poet found inspiration to write poems in the face of the West Lake, which is overgrown with weeds, impassable dredging and monotonous landscape, before the landscape of the West Lake was fully formed. This shows that the imagination and creativity of literati are developed enough, so it is necessary for literati to govern the urban environment.
Of course, in addition to poetry and literati, there are folk stories in the West Lake. Two of the four folk love stories took place in West Lake, Hangzhou. I have been to Hangzhou five times, and when I go there four times later, I will go to the West Lake Bridge by bike for a long time. Every time I wonder why someone has been taking wedding photos here. Maybe I am a superstitious person. I always feel that the background behind me is Leifeng Tower, and the bridge under my feet is the bridge that Liang Zhu walked back and forth 18 times. This moral is not very good for me.
Leaving the West Lake, Hangzhou is still a humanistic city. Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, Chen Gong Bridge, Zhejiang University, Liangzhu Ancient City ... Even the cars on the street are polite to pedestrians, which makes foreign tourists feel that this is a city that strives to practice humanistic ideas.
Hangzhou is a modern city.
To what extent is Hangzhou modernized? When walking by the West Lake in the evening, one eye saw that the west of the lake was as black as an abyss, and the other eye saw that the east of the lake was as white as day. Su Dongpo praised the West Lake for "light makeup is always appropriate". Facts have proved that he is far-sighted. The West Lake can mix seemingly discordant and completely opposite things, and the result is really suitable. Rock music, neon lights, bars, commercial pedestrian streets, street singing, dream-chasing youths, all modern scenes will be displayed at night in the West Lake.
Walking along the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal is another feeling. If you can't tell the difference between foreign tourists and local citizens in West Lake, you can feel the strong atmosphere of citizen life here.
Walking along the Qiantang River is another feeling. If you can't tell the difference between high-rise residential buildings and modern science and technology buildings in the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, you can feel the strong atmosphere of science and technology development here.
