Why are the once so popular “RVs” now gone?
1. RV travel is expensive. At present, all station wagons in our country have been modified. The price of modified domestic buses ranges from 300,000 to 500,000 yuan. The price of modifying imported buses ranges from 800,000 to 3 million yuan, and maintenance costs are also high. If you rent an RV from a car rental company, you will have to pay 800-1500 yuan per day. If you park your RV in a camping site, you will have to pay about 100-300 yuan per day, plus transportation fees, bridge tolls and fuel fees, the cost is relatively high. Therefore, some people choose to stay in hotels by themselves after considering the cost because the cost of their own car can be saved.
2. The supporting service facilities for recreational vehicle tourism are imperfect. First, there is a lack of corresponding tourism information systems and supporting services. At present, there is still much room for improvement in terms of timely release of traffic, road conditions and weather information, clear road signs, reasonable layout and signs of gas stations, and vehicle maintenance services. Second, there is a lack of emergency rescue facilities and a lack of safety.
Since tourist cars involve car safety, road traffic safety and camping safety, safety prevention issues are more complicated. Tourists sitting in cars often find that it is difficult to get help in time when encountering unexpected events such as abnormal weather, sudden illness, traffic accidents, etc. There is a shortage of RV sites. RV tourism cannot be separated from campsites. The lack of campsites is the main problem that restricts our current choice of RV tourism.
3. Relevant traffic regulations are imperfect. At present, China’s laws and regulations regarding tourist cars are not yet complete. The traffic management department has no clear definition, licensing, driving and parking of tourist vehicles. Tour buses will only be subject to special treatment in accordance with the regulations of relevant national departments. There’s also the issue of “travel restrictions.” There are two types of station wagons: self-propelled and trailer-type. High-speed driving permit requirements, trailer insurance and trailer towing requirements for trailers are unclear. However, they are more popular abroad due to better interior features, more comfortable living and towing.
