Where is Langya Mountain?

"Langya Pass" is an old saying, and now it is called "killing the tiger's mouth". It is located in Youyu County, Shanxi Province, 30 kilometers northwest of the county seat.

First, the different names of Langya Pass "Langya Pass" is one of the most important passes on the ancient Great Wall. Here, the Spring and Autumn Period was called "Shenhekou", which was used in Qin, Han and Sui Dynasties.

It was called "White Wolf Pass" in Tang Dynasty and "Langya Pass" in Song Dynasty.

In the Ming Dynasty, it was renamed "Shahukou" to resist the invasion of northern nationalities. In the early Ming Dynasty, Mongolian Tatar and Waci took this as a breakthrough point and invaded the Central Plains many times. In order to resist the invasion of Mongolian Walla, the Ming Dynasty sent troops to fight from this port many times, hence the name "Killing Hukou". At the same time, in the thirty-third year of Jiajing (A.D. 1544), Guankou Castle was built, and in the fortieth year of Wanli (A.D. 16 12), another new castle was built outside Shahukou Castle, named "Pingji Castle", and the two castles formed a middle pass. Guanzhong's Tongshun Bridge is a farewell bridge and an 'an Bridge at the west exit. Every day on the third day of the first month, people will arrange sacrifices here to pray for the safety of their relatives in other places. The east and west sides of China Pass are connected by city walls, so the killing tiger mouth consists of three parts: the killing tiger mouth fort, the China Pass and the Jibao.

In the Qing dynasty, in order to ease the contradiction between the mainland and the northern grassland nationalities, Emperor Kangxi personally changed the "killing hukou" to "killing hukou". Since then, the name of "killing the tiger's mouth" has been used to this day.

This is a fortress guarded by military strategists. During the Warring States, Han and Northern Wei Dynasties, generals marched into the desert from here and galloped on the battlefield. After the Qing dynasty, it led to the outside of the mouth, to the Hetao Plain, the Mongolian Plateau and even beyond. According to the Records of Shuoping County, killing the tiger's mouth is "the key to Sanjin and the key to the North Gate".

Second, killing the tiger's mouth is the representative place of "westward advancement". There is a famous folk song called "Walking West". The so-called westward journey refers to the famous population migration event in history. In the late Qing Dynasty, Mongolia was a vast area with few foreigners. In order to immigrate, the Qing government gradually relaxed its policies, encouraged the reclamation of Mongolia and developed agriculture. Due to years of wars in Shanxi and Shaanxi, natural disasters occur frequently. As a result, countless Shanxi people and Shaanxi people left their homes and embarked on the arduous road of going north and west. According to records, the history of going to the West can last from the mid-Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China for more than 200 years. This is one of the five most famous immigration events in China's modern history.

So, what exactly does the west exit point to? Xikou generally refers to the place where Mongolia is engaged in agriculture and commodity trade north of the Great Wall, which is located in Hohhot and Baotou today. Therefore, from different angles, the killing tiger mouth in Youyu, Shanxi, the Fugukou in northern Shaanxi and the Dushikou in northern Hebei are all within the scope of the western mouth. Now people generally regard killing the tiger's mouth as the representative of "westward advancement"

Third, the movie "Langya Pass" has a movie called "Langya Pass". This film is about the Tianbao period of Tang Dynasty. The film was named after the place name at that time.

However, according to relevant records, it was not called "Langya Pass" in the Tang Dynasty, but called "White Wolf Pass", and it was called "Langya Pass" in the Song Dynasty. So to be exact, it seems that the name of the movie should be called The Legend of the White Wolf. I don't know why the director named it "Langya Pass"!
