Liu Dashuai’s personal experience

In the 1980s, Dashuai Liu was born into an intellectual family in Northeast China. His father, Liu Jianmin, was a professor in the English Department of Jilin University, a famous institution of higher learning in China.

Dashuai Liu has had an indissoluble bond with English since he was born. Perhaps due to genetics, at a young age, Dashuai Liu showed extremely high talent in English, with an astonishing vocabulary and very standard spoken pronunciation.

At that time, the spring breeze of reform in China was blowing everywhere. Liu Jianmin, who had been teaching English for a long time, was deeply aware of the importance of English in the future. Therefore, he made up his mind to make Liu Dashuai's English far better than ordinary people and become an important competitive advantage.

In the next few years, every winter and summer vacation, under the arrangement of his father, the young Marshal Liu had to temporarily separate from his family and go to his aunt's house in the United States for vacation...

After several vacation exchanges in the United States, Dashuai’s English has improved rapidly. Not only has he mastered many uncommon vocabulary, but the most important thing is that his spoken English has become more fluent and American-style.

During the college entrance examination, Liu Dashuai followed the advice of his family and applied for the law department of Shenzhen University and was admitted with a score several ten points higher than the admission limit. Unfortunately, after a period of contact, he found that he did not like the legal profession.

As a result, he devoted more time to the pursuit of music. During that time, he often studied music scores, practiced guitar and bass with his friends. After a few years, their band began to become famous in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, and many bars began to invite them to perform.

It is worth mentioning that due to his proficiency in spoken English, during many exchange activities with foreign bands, some foreign friends thought he was Canadian or Chinese-American because they could not believe it. A native Chinese person's English can be so standard.

After graduating from university, Liu Dashuai became a business host. He combined his interests and expertise with his career and presented one after another wonderful celebration parties, commercial performances, Opening ceremony and thank you banquet.

In middle school and college, Liu Dashuai's English further developed and he became a famous "English prodigy" inside and outside the school. In 2007, Li Yang’s national lecture tour of Crazy English came to Shenzhen University, with Marshal Liu serving as the on-site host. That time, he and Li Yang were on the same stage, and their proficiency in English was very exciting to the English fans present. After the meeting, even Li Yang couldn't help but ask him, "Where did you learn such pure and fluent English?"

While playing music, Liu Dashuai participated in many exchange activities with foreign bands. Because his spoken English is so proficient, some foreign friends thought he was Canadian or Chinese-American, because they could not believe that a native Chinese could speak such standard English.

Band performance

Since middle school, Liu Dashuai became obsessed with rock music, especially heavy metal music. But at that time, I mainly listened, and didn’t have much time to get in touch or try it out. After all, the courses were quite intense, so the main time and energy had to be put on studying.

After entering college, because he was not very interested in his major and the time in college was relatively relaxed and free, Dashuai Liu began to invest more time in the pursuit of music. During that time, he often studied music scores, practiced guitar and bass with his friends.

Due to his extreme love for heavy metal music, Liu Dashuai and his band spent a lot of time and energy on playing.

After a few years, his band began to become famous in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, and many bars began to invite them to perform. This band has strong performance capabilities, and its performance styles span from pop, jazz, funky to rock and heavy metal.

Liu Dashuai is good at guitar, bass and singing, and mainly focuses on metal music. He loves playing in bands and has profound and unique insights into art and music, especially in the fields of rock, metal, and hardcore music. Since college, he has accumulated rich experience in band performance, and his guitar and singing skills have become increasingly outstanding.

Liu Dashuai’s band became famous in the Guangdong music circle. He often went to Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Zhuhai and other places to perform and communicate with outstanding domestic and foreign music artists. His life began to resemble a professional musician. He is regarded as the number one metal musician in Guangdong by his fans.

Due to his frequent activities in the Guangdong music circle, Liu Dashuai has many opportunities to come into contact with music artists of various styles and fields from various countries. In 2008, at the Experimental Music Festival held in the Yidutang loft of OCT Creative Park in OCT, Liu Dashuai served as a festival planner and translator and received dozens of experimental music artists from the United States, the United Kingdom and Northern Europe. That time, he had a great time communicating with the artists using his proficient English, which also made his understanding of music much deeper.

Later, Liu Dashuai teamed up with several friends to shoot a grassroots documentary about foreign bands coming to China to perform. In order to achieve this goal, Liu Dashuai led the team to Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Zhuhai and other places, and interviewed thirteen bands from different countries without interruption. These experiences further enriched his understanding of music.
