Junba Fishing Village is the only village in Tibet that relies on fishing for a living, but don’t they practice water burial?
Junba Fishing Village turned out to be not our destination because it was too late to set off from Lhasa. I originally planned to go to Rezhen Temple for a day and back, but later I realized that I was too naive. So the location was temporarily changed, and the scene that left a deep impression on me was the Jumba Fishing Village scene filmed in "The Third Pole".
We opened the Gaode map and searched for Junba. After we arrived, we found out that it was wrong. We must search for "Junba" on the Gaode map. It was actually not bad after going around for dozens of kilometers. It’s just that in Tibet, errors often occur due to transliteration problems, and the gasoline needs to be enough to keep the car full.
Junba Fishing Village is the only natural village in Tibet that relies on fishing for a living. The most famous thing in the village is probably the cowhide raft dance, and the fishing festival is held every year in March of the Tibetan calendar. I have always felt that it is fate to meet you, but it doesn’t matter if you don’t meet it. I come to Tibet so often, and I will always see it. Moreover, Junba Fishing Village is very close to Lhasa, so it can be said that it takes a matter of minutes to come.
Junba Fishing Village is at the end of the Lhasa River, where it meets the Brahmaputra River. It is just an inconspicuous turn, which can lead you into this magical village. It is surrounded by mountains on three sides and water on only one side. There are many people and little land, but we must survive. Just like in the coastal area, people in Junba Village can only rely on the river in front of them for food.
The most favorite thing about Junba Village is the temple on the top of the mountain. While worshiping, you can also see the entire village. It is a pity not to encounter the cowhide boat dance of Junba Fishing Village. But I still have regrets. I can still go there next time.
