Yishui County, affiliated to Linyi City, Shandong Province, is the northern sub-center of Linyi City and an ecological landscape city. It is located in the central and southern region of Shandong, in the hinterland of Yimeng Mountain, and in the upper reaches of Yi River and Shu River. It borders Ju County to the east, Yiyuan and Mengyin to the west, Yinan to the south, and Anqiu and Linqu to the north. The total area is 2434.8 square kilometers, ranking second in the province's county-level administrative divisions. It governs 2 streets, 16 towns, 1 economic development zone, 1 Yimeng style tourist attraction, and 359 rural communities. The county government is located in Yicheng Street. According to the seventh census data, as of 0:00 on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Yishui County was 967,570.

Yishui has a long history. A county was established here in the Qin Dynasty, and it was named Yishui County in the 16th year of Emperor Kaihuang’s reign in the Sui Dynasty (596 AD). In modern times, Yishui is a famous old revolutionary area, the hometown of "Hongsao" and one of the birthplaces of Yimeng spirit.

On June 12, 2014, it was rated as a "National Tourism Standardization Demonstration County" by the China National Tourism Administration, becoming the first tourism standardization demonstration county in Shandong Province. In July of the same year, Linyi Yishui was recognized as a "thousand-year ancient county" of China's place-name cultural heritage. On September 25, 2018, it won the honorary title of "2018 Comprehensive Demonstration County for E-commerce into Rural Areas" from the Ministry of Commerce. In October 2018, it was selected into the top 100 counties and cities in the country for investment potential, the top 100 counties and cities for green development, the top 100 counties and cities for scientific and technological innovation, and the top 100 counties and cities in the country for the quality of new urbanization in 2018.
