Visiting the West Lake

This summer, my parents and I came to Hangzhou to visit the West Lake.

I took a large cruise arranged by the travel agency. The tour guide gave us detailed explanations along the way. First, the tour guide talked about Su Causeway. Spring Dawn on Su Di, commonly known as Su Gong Di, is the first of the ten scenic spots in West Lake. It is a tree-lined embankment that runs through the north and south scenic areas of West Lake. Su Embankment starts from the foothills of Nanping Mountain in the south and ends at the foot of Qixialing Mountain in the north. It is nearly three kilometers long and the average width of the embankment is 36 meters. After that, I talked about Fenghe in Quyuan, Qiuyue in Pinghu, Nanping Evening Bell, Shuangfeng Chaoyun, etc., but I think the last three have the most profound impact on me.

The first one is Leifeng Pagoda. The tour guide said that Leifeng Pagoda was used to shock white snakes. After Leifeng Pagoda collapsed, many residents raising silkworms in Hangzhou went to pick up bricks under Leifeng Pagoda and put them there. At home, I hope the snake will not eat my silkworm babies.

There are also the Three Pools Reflecting the Moon. There are three stone towers in the West Lake, like three treasure gourds, growing on the sparkling water. Every Mid-Autumn Festival night, when the moon is bright in the sky, people like to light candles in the round hole of the stone tower and cover the hole with tissue paper. Many small moons will be reflected in the water. The moon shines on the tower, and the tower reflects the moon. The scenery is very beautiful. . That is the famous "Three Pools Reflecting the Moon".

The last thing is the broken bridge. There is an ancient legend in Broken Bridge, that is, the White Snake. The White Snake was originally a little white snake practicing in the mountains. One day, she was caught by an old snake catcher and almost died. Fortunately, she was saved by a little shepherd boy. Later, the little white snake became a spirit. During the Qingming Festival, when it was misty and rainy, Master Guanyin said, "If you are destined to meet each other thousands of miles away, you must go to the heights of the West Lake to find it." On the broken bridge of West Lake in Hangzhou, White Snake finally found Xu Xian, her savior in her previous life, and pledged herself to him.

Before getting off the boat, the tour guide also said that there is a restaurant called "Louwailou" above the West Lake. It is a century-old restaurant. Many business dignitaries, celebrities and rich people have visited there and stayed there. Many wonderful poems and essays were written, such as the famous line handed down from generation to generation written by Lin Sheng in the Song Dynasty: "Beyond the mountains are green mountains and buildings are outside the buildings. When will the singing and dancing of the West Lake stop? The warm wind makes tourists drunk, and they call Hangzhou Bianzhou!" And now it is said that it is a place where "selfless" people come. The so-called "selfless" means that there are only big money and public funds, but no private money, because the food there is very expensive and ordinary people cannot afford it.

The boat slowly docked, and my trip to the West Lake was coming to an end. I'm a little reluctant to leave. Goodbye West Lake. I'll come back next time.
