The Temple of Sea is located in the southwest of Bali, about 40 minutes' drive from Denpasar. It is one of the most important seaside temples in Bali, built in16th century. The Temple of the Sea is located on a boulder by the sea. At every high tide, rocks are surrounded by seawater. The whole temple is isolated from the land and stands alone in the sea. It is only connected to the land at low tide. There are also several small snakes that can be called patron saints hiding in a wet cave in the huge rock. Legend has it that there were huge waves when the temple was built, and it was very dangerous in the temple. So the monks in the temple took off their belts and threw them into the sea. The belt turned into two sea snakes and finally stopped the wind and waves. Since then, sea snakes have also become the patron saint of temples.
