The movie "Love in the 1980s" is adapted from Zheng Shiping's novel of the same name, directed by Huo Jianqi, starring Lu Fangsheng and Yang Caiyu. The film is set in the 1980s and tells the love story between college student Guan Yubo and his old classmate Cheng Liwen.

Guan Yubo is an urban college student. After graduation, he was assigned to a remote small town to work as a propaganda officer in the township government. While buying wine at the supply and marketing cooperative in the village, he unexpectedly reunited with Cheng Liwen, a female classmate whom he had a crush on in middle school, and a story of love and fulfillment unfolded. Liwen was Guan Yubo's high school classmate. At the end of the college entrance examination in 1978, Liwen failed by one point. Synopsis of "Love in the 1980s"

In a remote Tujia county, Guan Yubo (played by Lu Fangsheng) and Cheng Liwen (played by Yang Caiyu) are high school classmates. Guan secretly fell in love with Wen and secretly put a letter in Wen's schoolbag, but Wen had no reaction. When the college entrance examination ended in 1978, the whole school was only close to being admitted to the provincial capital university, but Wen failed by one point. Four years later, after graduating from university, Guan was unexpectedly assigned to work in the government of a small town and was sent to a township called "Gongmu Village" as a propaganda officer, while his college sweetheart stayed in the provincial capital.

Dejected and passive, he stayed in a lonely town and drank to drown his sorrows. While buying wine, he met Wen, who worked as a salesperson in a supply store here. It turned out that Wen's father was sent to the township for labor reform, and Wen also asked to come here after being recruited so that she could take care of her father.
