Why is the Japanese tourism market in chaos?
According to reports, as of 2016, there were only about 20,000 tour guides with this qualification in Japan, of which 67.8% were English-speaking tour guides, while only 12% were Chinese-speaking tour guides who were in high demand. There are only more than 100 qualified Chinese-speaking tour guides in the seven prefectures of Kyushu.
A few days ago, the media asked 9 tour guides who took Chinese tour groups in Tokyo’s Ginza business district. Only one of them had a qualification certificate, and the others were “unlicensed tour guides.” Some even said no. Know that you need to verify it. According to estimates by relevant Japanese agencies, there are currently thousands of tour guides receiving Chinese tourists in Japan, and most of them are "unlicensed tour guides."
Industry insiders said that due to vicious competition, Japanese hospitality agencies have lowered the prices for receiving Chinese tour groups, and even accepted groups at a loss. For example, a travel agency launched the "Japan Golden Tour Line 5 nights and 6 days" According to the route, the quoted price for travel projects from Tokyo to Kyoto and Osaka is only more than 3,000 yuan, which is far lower than the actual cost.
The industry generally calls this kind of group a "trap filling group" or a "gambling group." Of course, the travel agency will not bear the "loss" part of this kind of tour. In the end, it has to find a way to make up for it from the tourists and achieve profits. This makes it almost inevitable for tour guides to induce tourists to buy at high prices. A tour guide said: "It is almost impossible not to get ripped off if you sign up for a pit-filling tour."
The Chinese Embassy in Japan reminds Chinese tourists that when traveling and shopping in Japan, they should be careful about the tour guide's persuasion and merchants' promotion. We must remain vigilant and do not listen to their exaggerated propaganda and purchase health food as medicine.
