When is the best season to travel in Guilin?

The best tourist season in Guilin is summer and autumn (April-October).

Every year from April to October, Guilin has beautiful mountains and clear waters, which is the best time for sightseeing. You can enjoy the magnificent line drawing wonders in Longsheng. Within half a month after April 15th of the lunar calendar, the watery Longji Rice Terraces are another wonder.

There are many festivals, including the Longsheng Red Clothes Festival in early April and the Miao New Year in October, each with its own liveliness and excitement. The "Two Moons on the Li River" at Elephant Trunk Mountain on the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival is even more beautiful, attracting many tourists.

Guilin topography and landforms:

Guilin City is located in the southwest of the Nanling Mountains and in the middle of the northern end of the Guilin-Yangshuo Karst Basin, in the "Hunan-Guangxi Road". The terrain is high in the west, north and southeast, and low in the central part. The terrain is mainly mid-mountain or low-mid-mountain, and the peaks are mostly 1,000 meters above sea level. The main peak of Yuecheng Ridge, Maoer Mountain, is 2,141.5 meters above sea level and is known as the highest peak in South China. Pingle County has an altitude as low as 97 meters.

The relative height difference between the peak and the basin is 600 to 1,600 meters, and the slope is 20° to 45°. It presents karst peak forests and solitary open and flat terrain. The peak plain and valley terrace have a ground elevation of 150 to 160 meters and a peak elevation of 200 to 300 meters.
