Is it safe to go to Vietnam alone? What should I do if I don’t understand the language?

Vietnam is still safe, with warm and friendly people, fresh and elegant food, dazzling tropical fruits, breathtaking scenery, and graceful beauties. It is worth visiting.

In the past, attacks on Chinese were only caused by a small number of radicals. There is no need to worry now. Anyway, the language barrier makes it impossible to communicate on sensitive topics that can lead to conflicts: the 1979 war, the sovereignty dispute over the Changsha Islands (called Nansha in China), etc.

Many Vietnamese can speak Chinese and English, especially at the border. There are more Chinese in the south of Vietnam. If you can speak English, you can do it, or as another friend said, you can bring a Chinese-Vietnamese daily vocabulary with you. If you encounter a problem, you can point it out to them (this is the first time I went there, alone).

It is still necessary to prepare some commonly used medicines: cold medicines, antidiarrheal medicines, mosquito repellents, etc. It is very inconvenient to go to a pharmacy temporarily.

Bring a brochure about tourist attractions, which city you want to visit, and buy a map. Just ask for directions on the street, and everyone will enthusiastically point them to you. The scenery in Vietnam is beautiful, so prepare enough camera memory and batteries.

Wish you a happy trip!
