American landscape design majors applying for American landscape design graduate students are mainly divided into:
1. Professional degree in career-oriented landscape design (MLAI): three years. If the applicant's professional background is non-landscape design or related majors, the school will generally encourage students to apply for a three-year landscape design major, and the first year will be used to lay the foundation. Post-professional degree (MLA II): 2 years. If the applicant's professional background is similar to landscape design and curriculum, he can directly apply for a 2-year course.
2. Master of Science (MS): length of schooling 1 year, suitable for applicants majoring in landscape design who want to study and study landscape design theory in the future. Among the top 300 universities in the United States, 54 universities offer 36 postgraduate courses in landscape design. Basic requirements for admission:
(1) language: the TOEFL score of landscape design major is about 90, and that of famous schools is above 100, but there are exceptions, such as Cornell University, where the TOEFL score is only 77; At the same time, most schools require applicants to have a GPA of 3.0 or above (out of 4.0), and famous schools have a GPA of 3.3 or above. Some schools are more demanding, such as the University of Texas at Austin, with an average GPA of 3.7. Applicants with average GPA can consider the University of Colorado at Denver, whose GPA requirement is only 2.5.
(2) Portfolio: Students applying for landscape design major need to provide a portfolio. Although each school has special requirements for the portfolio, on the whole, the school is interested in the actual professional quality, that is, the quality of the works. Usually, the school requires applicants to submit the works of 15-25, and students should carefully organize these works, make a gorgeous collection of works, and write a paragraph to explain each work.
(3) Major: The undergraduate professional background of landscape design major is mostly architectural design, urban planning, landscape design and other majors. Application materials TOEFL/IELTS scores, GRE scores, resumes, portfolios, 2-3 letters of recommendation, personal statements, essays, transcripts, and proof of funds. Applicants must apply before the application deadline.
