Interesting Attractions
Putuo Mountain Scenic Area
Putuo Mountain, the ashram of Guanyin Bodhisattva, is known as the "Buddha Land of the Sea and Sky" and is the longest on the island. The scenic spots are mainly distributed in three areas centered on Fawcett, Nanhai Guanyin and Foding Mountain. It takes about half a day to visit each area. The Nanhai Guanyin is the landmark building on the island, and the Guanyin Hall contains the most legendary legend of Putuo Mountain and cannot be missed. On the east side of the island, there are two excellent bathing beaches, Qianbusha and Baibusha. Bees who like to watch the sea and play in the water can go. It takes about 2-3 days to visit Putuo Mountain Scenic Area, and the prices on the island are also relatively expensive. It is recommended to bring as many snacks and drinks as possible before going to the island.
Dongji Island
The easternmost island in China, like a silent and beautiful pearl, stands in the embrace of Zhoushan. From west to east, there are four islands: Huangxing Island, Miaozihu Island, Qingbang Island and Dongfushan Island, where simple fishermen live day after day. The island not only has a strong and simple fisherman's character, but also has beautiful scenery, covering sunshine, blue sea, islands and reefs, and seafood. Among the four islands, Miaozi Lake is the most prosperous, while Dongfu Mountain is the best choice for watching the sunrise because of its "first point of light in the new century". Take a look at the scenery on the island, and forget about the "Potala Palace on the Sea" on Qingbang Island. You can have a panoramic view of the essence of Dongji.
Zhujiajian Island
Famous for its sand and stone natural landscape, it is China’s international sand sculpture home integrating sand, stone, sea and Buddha. Shili Jinsha has the largest beach group in East China, consisting of nine beaches. Every September, the Zhoushan International Sand Sculpture Festival is held here. Large sand sculptures attract many domestic and foreign tourists to Zhujiajian Island. It is recognized by the International Sand Sculpture Organization as one of the best quality beaches, far exceeding the summer resort of the Hawaiian Islands in all aspects. There are large black pebbles on the beach and water entertainment projects. When the weather is good, you can also take a boat out to sea.
Best Travel Time
The peak tourist season in Zhoushan is from June to October every year. Taohua Island, Dongji Island, Mount Putuo, Zhujiajian Island and Shengsi Islands are all summer resorts. You can swim, watch the sea, blow the sea breeze, fish and watch the sunrise. But pay attention to sun protection.
In the golden autumn season (June-September), the sea is filled with thousands of waves and huge waves, which are thrilling and roaring. Midnight is another spectacle. Rows of waves sparkle in the night, dazzling, and it’s the fishing moratorium again. Seafood is more expensive than usual.
