The full name of the Macao Special Administrative Region (hereinafter referred to as Macao) is the People's Republic of China (PRC) Special Administrative Region. It is located in the west of the Pearl River Estuary in southern China, where Chinese mainland meets the South China Sea in China. It is adjacent to Guangdong Province, 60km away from Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and145km away from Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province. The Macao Special Administrative Region consists of Macao Peninsula, Taipa Island, Luhuandao and Lu Chao, with a land area of 32.9 square kilometers.

Macau has been the territory of China since ancient times. In the thirty-second year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty, the Portuguese bribed local officials in Guangdong and were allowed to dock at the Macau dock for trade. In the thirty-sixth year of Jiajing, the Portuguese entered and began to live in Macao. After the Opium War of 20 years in Daoguang of Qing Dynasty, Portugal took advantage of the defeat of the Qing government and successively occupied Taipa Island and Coloane Island in southern Macao.

Magmatic rocks in Macao Special Administrative Region are widely distributed, all of which belong to intrusive rocks, including intermediate-acid rocks, acid rocks, basic dikes and other rock types. The dyke rocks in Macao include pegmatite, basic rocks and chronological veins. According to the geosyncline theory, the whole region, including Macao Special Administrative Region, belongs to the junction of Jiangxi, Hunan, Guangxi and Guangdong fold belts in South China fold system and the southeast coastal fault fold belt, and is an intermountain depression and delta basin dominated by fault depression.
