Where is Iraq?

Iraq is located in the southwest of Asia and the northeast of Arabian Peninsula. It borders Turkey in the north, Iran in the east, Syria and Jordan in the west, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait in the south and the Persian Gulf in the southeast.

Most of Iraq's territory is desert. However, the area between the Euphrates River and the Tigris River is suitable for farming and rich in products. The two big rivers send 7 million cubic meters of sediment into the estuary delta every year. There is a coastline in southeastern Iraq bordering on the Persian Gulf. Both the coastal area and the Arabian River used to be swamp wetlands, but many wetlands were drained in the 199s. The northern part of Iraq is mainly mountainous, with the highest point of Haji Ibrahim at an altitude of 3,6 meters.

the local climate is a tropical desert climate, which is cool in winter and dry and sunny in summer. The temperature in the northern mountainous areas is low in winter, and there will be occasional heavy snow, which may even cause floods. The capital Baghdad is located in the middle of the country, and the Tigris River runs through the city. Other major cities include Basra in the south and Mosul in the north.
