Jiayu County, formerly known as Shayangbao, is a county under the jurisdiction of Xianning City, Hubei Province. Located on the south bank of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, it is connected to Wuhan in the north, chibi city in the south, 40km from Xianning in the east and honghu city across the river in the west. It is an important part of Wuhan city circle.

Jiayu County is one of the first areas open to the outside world and an important development zone in the Yangtze River Economic Belt. It is a famous hometown of vegetables, crabs, fish and gold in Hubei Province, and won the title of "Model County of Greening in Hubei Province".

History and culture

Jiayu County was founded in the first year of Dakang in the Western Jin Dynasty (AD 280). It was named after The Book of Songs Xiaoya Nanyou Jiayu. It has a long history and rich cultural heritage, which contains cultural heritages such as Southern Song Dynasty culture, Three Kingdoms culture, Wudu culture, rap culture and fish culture.
