The Life of Liao Jichun's Characters

In 196s, after being invited to travel to Europe and America, due to the prevalence of abstract expressionism, he tried to turn objects into nearly geometric points, lines and planes, with formal composition and color matching as the key points of expression. "Night in the Woods" is an example. In his later years, he returned to the direction of clear scenery and clear objects, but the color was more mature and rhythmic, and there was a similar development in still life themes.

This year coincides with the centenary of painting Mr. Liao's birthday. Our institute specially borrowed 23 oil paintings and 16 pastels, sketches and other sketches from the Taipei Art Museum and Liao Jia's family to show his various styles and features in different periods on different themes. Please feel the enthusiasm of this local painter for art and life.

In 1947, Liao Jichun moved to Taipei with his family. While teaching in the Fine Arts Department of the university, he also kept creating. At this time, the object of sketching moved to various places of interest in the north, and Danshui and Guanyin Mountain seemed to be his favorite places, perhaps because he once took a part-time course in Chunde Girls' Middle School (the women's department of Tamkang Middle School, which was later merged into this Tamkang Middle School) and became more familiar with the relationship between fresh water. Until shortly before his death, he had painted many works on this topic.
