Qianfo Mountain is located in Lixia District, Jinan City, Shandong Province. It is one of the three major scenic spots in Jinan. It was called Lishan in ancient times. Because ancient history said that Shun farmed in Lishan, it was also called Shun Mountain and Shun Geng Mountain. During the Kaihuang period of the Sui Dynasty (581-600), due to the popularity of Buddhism, thousands of Buddha statues were carved along the mountain, so it was called Thousand Buddha Mountain.
Qianfo Mountain is the remnant of Mount Tai, with an altitude of 285 meters and an area of ??166.1 hectares. It is 2.5 kilometers away from the center of Jinan City and is located in the south of the city center of Jinan, Shandong Province. Together with Baotu Spring and Daming Lake, it is also known as the Three Mountains of Jinan. The scenic spot is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and one of the ninth batch of national-level scenic spots.
Qianfo Mountain was called Lishan Mountain in ancient times; according to legend, when Emperor Yushun was a citizen in ancient times, he plowed under Mount Li, so it was also named Shunshan Mountain or Shungen Mountain. According to historical records: During the Sui Dynasty, Buddhism was prevalent in Shandong. Devout believers carved a large number of stone Buddhas along the mountains and walls and built Thousand Buddha Temples, hence the name Thousand Buddha Mountain. Climbing along Pandao West Road, there is a Tang Sophora Pavilion on the way. Next to the pavilion is an ancient locust tree. It is said that the famous Tang Dynasty general Qin Qiong once tied his horse here. There is a painted archway halfway up the mountain, namely Qiyan Jiudianfang. Climb up to the Yilan Pavilion and lean on the railing to look north. Daming Lake is like a mirror in the distance, and the Yellow River is like a belt in the distance. The scenery of Quancheng City is unobstructed.
Xingguo Zen Temple: Located on the hillside of Qianfo Mountain, covering an area of ??3,000 square meters, it is a famous incense resort in Shandong. According to records in stone records in the seventh year of Chenghua in the Ming Dynasty (1471), the temple was destroyed by war. On August 3, in the fourth year of Chenghua (1468), Su Xian, an official of Prince De's Palace, visited Qianfo Mountain and donated money to build a Buddhist hall and a monk's room. , kitchen, granary, etc. In the hall are statues of Sakyamuni, Avalokitesvara of Compassion, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, Eighteen Arhats, and the Four Heavenly Kings. The temple gate faces west, and on the forehead are engraved the four characters "Xingguo Zen Temple" written by Zhao Puchu, the former chairman of the Buddhist Association of China and calligrapher. Stone couplets: Drums at dusk and bells in the morning wake up the rich and famous in the world, and the sound of the Buddha's call brings back the charming dreams of the sea of ??suffering. It was written by Yang Zhaoqing, a scholar in Jinan in the late Qing Dynasty. On both sides of the door, there are bells and drums on the second floor. On the south side of the temple entrance, there are many Buddha statues carved on the stone wall of Thousand Buddha Cliff.
