Visit the hometown of Chiang Kai-shek, admire the streams and waterfalls of Xuedou Mountain, climb to the wonderful high platform, and overlook the lakes and mountains under Xia Ting.

Attraction introduction:

As the hometown of Chiang Kai-shek, Xikou itself is somewhat mysterious. In addition, it is a popular tourist destination along the extensive Shexi River, with its waterfalls and streams in the Xuedou Mountains. Today, Xikou Scenic Area includes two major attractions, the former residence of the Jiang family and Xuedou Mountain. It’s worth spending 1-2 days to find out.

The two ticket offices in the scenic area are located at Wulingmen (the gate of Jiang's hometown) in Xikou Town, a tourist distribution center at the junction of the two scenic spots in the west. Xikou Scenic Area has complete tourist facilities, and there are green tourist buses between Xikou Passenger Station-Wulingmen-Tourist Distribution Center. Chiang Kai-shek's hometown is in the town. You can take a bus to the Tourist Distribution Center of Xuedou Mountain Scenic Area, where you can transfer to the green sightseeing bus (included in Xuedou Mountain Scenic Area, unified ticket, unlimited rides) to Sanyintan, and then you can start your tour of Xuedou Mountain. Timetable:

If it is your first time to Xikou, it is recommended to arrange 2 days. The recommended itinerary is: arrive at Xikou at noon on the first day, and after lunch visit Xuedou Mountain and Xuedou Temple in the mountains. We stayed in Xikou Town at night, went to Jiang's hometown in the morning, and went to Jiang's mother's cemetery in the afternoon. It is more cost-effective to purchase scenic spot tickets directly during this trip. 230 yuan includes two attractions and transportation tickets, valid for 2 days. If you are only interested in one of the attractions, you can also purchase tickets for the attractions separately (valid on the same day).

Doosan Guide:

It takes about half a day to visit Xuedou Mountain. The most attractive natural landscapes on the mountain are the streams and ponds of Yinsan Lake and the waterfalls of Qianzhangyan. Starting from Sanyin Pool, visit the upper, middle and lower pools in sequence (about 2 hours). Finally, take the sightseeing train at the West Sightseeing Bus Station near Xiayintan to Qianzhangyan Waterfall, then transfer to the cableway to Miaogao Terrace to see Chiang Kai-shek’s villa. The view overlooking Xiating Lake from Miaogao Terrace is an important reason why many tourists come to Xuedou Mountain.

An additional fee of 50 yuan is required for the small train and cableway between Silver Beach and Miaogao Terrace. There are trails you can walk, but they are tiring and take time. It is more recommended to take public transportation. Looking down from the ropeway to the Qianzhangyan Falls below is very spectacular. There is a formal sightseeing trail behind the wonderful high platform, which goes downhill all the way and is easy to walk. It doesn't take long to reach Xuedou Temple at the foot of the mountain. The temple is relatively new, so you can take a look around. There is an open-air Buddha here, which is very eye-catching. Many tourists "learn by rote" here in search of peace. There is also a green sightseeing bus stop at the entrance of Dou Temple. You can take the bus back to town. This arrangement is the most reasonable way to walk in Xuedou Mountain. Not only can you enjoy the scenic spots on the mountain, but you can also go all the way downhill without looking back.

Chiang Kai-shek’s former residence guide:

The next morning, we visited the Chiang Kai-shek’s former residence scenic spot from Wuling Gate. The main attractions here are located along the Wuling Road Pedestrian Street along the Shanxi River and can be reached on foot. The most worth seeing are the Wuling Academy, the small house, and the Wenchang Pavilion near the entrance. Among them, Wenchang Pavilion, once the villa of Chiang Kai-shek and Song Dynasty, is one of the best scenic spots in Xikou. It now has paintings by Song Meiling.

In addition, Gao Feng's former residence near Jingtang Road is the place where Chiang Kai-shek married Mao Zedong and Mao Zedong. There are honeysuckle planted by Soong Meiling in the middle patio. The plaques, couplets, carvings, and sculptures inside are also worthy of attention. The Yutai Salt Store to the west is the place where Chiang Kai-shek was born, and the word "Lu Qing" is engraved on the front door. It should be noted that some paths in the scenic area lead to the streets outside, so be careful not to leave the scenic area during the tour. Tickets can only be used once.

Chiang’s mother’s mausoleum is located at the junction of the two scenic spots and is included in the tickets for Chiang Kai-shek’s former residence scenic spot.
