Where are Longmen Grottoes?
The Longmen Grottoes are located in Longmen Town, Luolong District, Luoyang City.
Longmen Grottoes, located in Luoyang City, Henan Province, is the world’s largest treasure house of stone carving art with the most statues. It is rated as “the highest peak of Chinese stone carving art” by UNESCO and ranks among the major grottoes in China. head. It is now a world cultural heritage, a national key cultural relic protection unit, and a national AAAAA-level tourist attraction.
Dragon Gate was built by Dayu to control the water, and the legend of fish leaping over the Dragon Gate also happened here. The grottoes were first excavated during the reign of Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty, flourished in the Tang Dynasty, and ended in the late Qing Dynasty. It has been built for more than 1,400 years in more than 10 dynasties, making it the longest grotto in the world. There are 2,345 cave statue niches and more than 110,000 statues in existence. A large number of colorful paintings were used during construction, but most of them have faded today.

1. Guyang Cave
This is a natural limestone cave dug out. There is no lotus well on the top of the cave, and the ground is in the shape of a horseshoe. The main image is Sakyamuni, wearing a double-collared drooping cassock, with a thin face and smiling eyes, sitting peacefully on a square platform. Standing on the left side of the main Buddha is Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva holding a vase, and on the right is Guanyin Bodhisattva holding a vase. The Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva with Mani Orb has a quiet expression and calm demeanor.
2. Huijian Cave
Huijian is also the "checking monk" of the Dashena statue niche, and is responsible for the task of digging the Dashena statue niche. Because of this, the appearance of the Buddha statue in Huijian Cave is exactly the same as that of the Lushena Buddha, and the image of the disciple Ananda on the right is also very similar to the Ananda in the Lushena statue niche. The bodhisattvas standing on both sides have plump bodies and graceful postures, which are in the same style as the bodhisattva statues in the Lusena niche. Therefore, Huijian Cave is called "Xiao Fengxian Temple".
3. Leigu Taipei Cave
Among the three large seated Buddhas in the cave, the main Buddha on the east wall is Vairocana Buddha, which means the sun, which means to eliminate darkness and pervade light. , so it is also called the "Great Sun Tathagata". It is a Bodhisattva image with a crown on its head and bracelets on its arms. It is 2.45 meters high and sits in lotus position on a 0.9-meter-high Sumeru platform.
