Xiaguan Town Travel Guide
Xiaguan Town travel guide: coastal style, old commercial streets, fishing port and wharf.
1. Coastal style
As you walk into Xiaguan, you will see a patchwork of blue and white buildings with a Mediterranean style. This was once an old residence of fishermen. The gorgeous bougainvillea, white walls, blue doors, windows, and railings make the entire complex look like a small village in "Santorini on the Aegean Sea."
The Old Fisherman’s Apartment is a place where many tourists take photos and check in. Walking through the alleys here, you will encounter different scenery at every corner, as if you have entered a dreamy blue and white world. Any photo taken here is full of romance, literature and art, and a fresh feeling.
2. Shangmao Old Street
Follow the town’s landscape tour trail to Xiaguan Old Street. Xiaguan Old Street was originally an old commercial street and was the beginning of Xiaguan’s commercial history. Since the second year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty, it has been set up with a customs sub-card to communicate with Shandong, Lingnan, Nanyang and other places for economic and trade exchanges. In its heyday, it was even known as "Little Shanghai".
Xiagguan Old Street is built on the mountain, with the mountain and the sea, one end winding to the hillside, and the other end connected to the fishing port. It is layered, well-proportioned, and extending in all directions, witnessing the historical changes of Xiaguan for more than 600 years.
3. Fishing Port and Pier
Although the Xiaguan Fishing Port and Pier has gone through ups and downs, it is still bustling and lively. On the pier, there are people coming and going, fishing boats returning to the port are full of the harbor, and pieces of seafood are being dried in full swing, all showing the abundance of the land of fish and rice.
There is also a seafood market on the pier, with a wide variety of fish, shrimps, crabs, snails, dried goods, etc. Whether you want the freshest fresh seafood, or dried shrimps, grilled shrimps, dried eels, scallops and other dried seafood, you can buy it here.
