Relevant information about tourism balancing regional economic development and narrowing regional differences.

"Tourism is an important channel to balance regional development and narrow the differences between regions, urban and rural areas and workers and peasants." Cai Jiacheng, Planning, Development and Finance Department of the National Tourism Administration, said at the China International Forum on Rural Tourism held in Guiyang.

Cai Jiacheng said that by developing tourism, focusing on rural areas and relatively poor and backward areas, developing tourism projects, establishing tourist destinations, taking foreign and domestic cities and developed areas as the main tourist sources, and introducing high-income and relatively high-quality people into low-income areas, the flow of population, capital, labor, goods, technology and information between urban and rural areas, regions and different income classes has been realized, which has effectively promoted the development of rural areas, poor and backward areas and the whole country.

Cai Jiacheng said that since the reform and opening-up, a large number of typical cases have emerged in China, such as Jinggangshan, Yan 'an and Xibaipo in old revolutionary areas, Zhangjiajie, Huangshan and Changbai Mountain in poor mountainous areas, Jiuzhaigou, Xishuangbanna, Lijiang, Yanji in ethnic minority areas and many areas in the northwest.

It is estimated that in the past 25 years, 60 million to 80 million poor people in China directly benefited from the development of tourism, accounting for a quarter to a third of all poor people. Cai Jiacheng believes that poverty alleviation through tourism is a very successful and effective development-oriented poverty alleviation. People who get rid of poverty through tourism not only have a low rate of returning to poverty, but also can quickly embark on the road to wealth. Tourism not only brings income to poor areas and their residents, but also improves their concepts, knowledge and skills by increasing employment, strengthening communication, information communication and communication technology, and greatly enhances their development and innovation ability.
