Where is the Main Hall of Shaolin Temple?

The Main Hall of Shaolin Temple is a cultural tourist attraction. The Main Hall is the core building of the Henan Shaolin Temple and an important place for Shaolin monks to conduct Buddhist activities.

Entering Shaolin Temple, passing through the Tianwang Hall is the Main Hall. The Main Hall is the core building of the Shaolin Temple. In ancient times, it was also called the "Three Generations Buddha Hall" and the "Liu Li Hall". It is an important place for monks in the Shaolin Temple to conduct Buddhist activities. On both sides of the front of the hall are the Bell Tower and the Drum Tower.

In front of the bell tower, there is a stele inscribed with the title "Yellow Emperor Songshan Shaolin Temple Stele", commonly known as "Li Shimin Stele". It was erected in the 16th year of the founding of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty. On the front is a text inscribed by Li Shimin admonishing the masters of the Shaolin Temple and others to commend the Shaolin Temple. The monk's military exploits were achieved when he pacified Wang Shichong. The back side records the story of thirteen stick monks saving the King of Qin. This is also the historical basis for the filming of the movie "Shaolin Temple".

The original hall was burned down by the warlord Shi Yousan in 1928, and the current building was rebuilt in 1985. The main hall faces north and south, with seven bays and a concrete imitation wood structure. It has double eaves on the roof, a dragon's kiss on the main ridge, a precious mirror in the middle, and cloisters on all sides, making it magnificent.

The three generations of Buddha statues are enshrined in the hall. In the center is Sakyamuni from the Saha world, flanked by the two Bodhisattvas Manjusri and Samantabhadra, collectively known as the "Three Saints of Huayan"; on the left is the Medicine Buddha from the Oriental Pure Glaze world. Attended by the two Bodhisattvas Sunlight and Moonlight; on the right side is Amitabha Buddha in the Western Paradise, and at the side are Avalokitesvara and Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, collectively known as the "Three Saints of the West". The sculptures hanging on the east and west gables of the hall are the Eighteen Arhats, and the sculptures hanging on the back wall of the screen wall are Guanyin.
