The statement said that the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned the Minister Counselor of the Japanese Embassy in Russia on the same day and informed the Japanese side of the activities of the consul general of the Japanese Consulate General in Vladivostok that were inconsistent with his status and endangered Russia's security interests. The Russian side declared the consul "persona non grata" and asked him to leave the country within 48 hours.
