Guess where the oldest and largest Yao village in China is, Yunan.

Wang Pan Yao Township, Hekou County, Yunnan Province is located in Yaoshan Township in the north of Hekou County, which is one of the best areas for the inheritance and protection of Yao culture in China.

In recent years, Yaoshan Township has made great efforts to tap national resources and build national brands. The newly-built square includes a pavilion, a Yao exhibition hall, a Yao culture learning hall, a cultural square, a column of the twelve surnames of the Yao people, a cultural sculpture wall, a drum tower and tourism supporting facilities. It is the largest major project for the inheritance and protection of Yao culture in this province, and it is also one of the largest symbolic projects of Yao culture in China.

The project was completed and put into use on 20 16 1 1. At present, it has become an important activity center for Yao compatriots to seek roots and worship their ancestors, hold sacrificial activities, major festivals, cultural heritage and exchanges.

After its completion, * * * received 87,000 tourists from home and abroad, including overseas Yao compatriots from all over the country and the United States, Thailand, Vietnam and Laos 1 10,000, and successively worshipped their ancestors in Yaoshan and carried out cultural learning and exchange activities, which played a positive role in inheriting and carrying forward Yao culture, enhancing national unity and maintaining border stability.
