Laojun Mountain in Luoyang City, Henan Province, is "Journey to the West, the first fairy mountain in the world". Formerly known as Shijing, it is located 3 kilometers southeast of Luanchuan County, Luoyang, the ancient capital of the 13th Dynasty. Yuhuangding, the main peak of Funiu Mountain, is 2217m above sea level, with a total length of 800 miles. It has a human history of more than 2000 years and is the longest mountain range in Taoism. Laojun Mountain was formed in the continental orogeny/kloc-0.9 billion years ago. During the Spring and Autumn Period, Gigi Lai, an old man who was recognized as the ancestor of Taoism, came here to practice in seclusion, making him a "Taoist source" and a "ancestral court". The Northern Wei Dynasty began with the laojunmiao built on it to commemorate it. In the 11th year of Zhenguan (637), Emperor Taizong rebuilt Tieding laojunmiao in the Book of Songs and named it "Laojun Mountain", which became the holy land of mainstream Quanzhen Taoism. The original appearance of Laojun Mountain is well preserved, which records the tectonic evolution process of cracking, dispersion, proliferation, aggregation, collision and orogeny in the southern margin of North China ancient land block for 65.438+0.9 billion years. Laojun Mountain is dominated by the landform of middle and low mountains and canyons, and the topography fluctuates greatly. It belongs to the western part of Henan Province in North China Stratigraphic Area, and crosses Xiong 'er Mountain Community and Funiu Mountain Community. The exposed strata are Archaean Taihua Group, Lower Proterozoic Kuanping Group, Mesoproterozoic Great Wall Xionger Group, Jixian Guandaokou Group and Luanchuan Group. The upper Proterozoic Qingbaikou Wantao Group, Paleozoic Ordovician Erlangping Group, Cenozoic Paleogene and Quaternary lithology and lithofacies changed greatly. There are regional deep faults and complex geological structures.
