In 2007, 66 scenic spots entered the first batch of 5A scenic spots in the country. After that, the selection of 5A scenic spots was suspended for two years until 10 new 5A scenic spots were added in 2010. Subsequently, new 5A scenic spots were added every year, with 43 in 2011 and 26 in 2012 and 2013.
