Present situation and existing problems of tourism development in Beibu Gulf

Beibu Gulf is located in the northwest of the South China Sea, bordering Leizhou Peninsula and Hainan Island in the east, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in the north, Vietnam in the west and the South China Sea in the south. On the morning of October 30th, 2009/kloc-0, Ma Biao, Chairman of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, presided over a special report meeting to study, discuss and approve in principle the Beibu Gulf Tourism Development Plan. "Beibu Gulf Tourism Development Plan" was compiled by the National Tourism Administration, with the participation of representatives from Guangxi, Guangdong and Hainan provinces, and implemented by the Tourism Bureau of the autonomous region. According to this plan, Beibu Gulf tourism is a compound and all-weather international tourism destination, which mainly focuses on coastal vacation, transnational tourism, marine tourism, international chamber of commerce exhibition and border customs experience, and integrates sightseeing, theme entertainment, fashion sports, health care, cultural experience, eco-tourism, study and scientific research, leisure real estate and other functions. Beibu Gulf has become the bridgehead of China's international tourism development, a model of international and regional tourism cooperation, and an engine of tourism transformation, upgrading and innovation. By 2020, Beibu Gulf will become a world-class coastal tourist destination comparable to the Mediterranean and Caribbean. After listening to the reports from the Tourism Bureau of the Autonomous Region and the Beibu Gulf Tourism Development Planning Committee, Ma Biao pointed out that Guangxi has rich and unique tourism resources, and tourism is a sunrise industry supported by the Party Committee and government of the autonomous region. In recent years, the strategy of building a strong tourism province in our region has achieved important stage results. Especially since this year, tourism has played an important role in expanding domestic demand and ensuring growth in our region, and made important contributions to the economic and social development of Guangxi. Beibu Gulf is a "rising star" of Guangxi's tourism development, with superior location and rich tourism resources. It is necessary to fully tap the tourism resources in Beibu Gulf, make a scientific and clear positioning for the development of tourism industry in Beibu Gulf, highlight the characteristics of "Yamazaki beautiful seashore" in Beibu Gulf tourism, and do a good job in the development of tourism projects that are compatible with the positioning. Through planning and legislation, protect the tourist coastline, tourist attractions and scenic spots, and promote the sustainable development of tourism resources. We should do a good job in the special planning of key tourism projects and resources selected in the planning. We should seize the opportunity that China-ASEAN Free Trade Area is about to be built, and explore the establishment of a pilot zone for tourism reform according to relevant policies.
