Introduction to Shuzhou

Shuzhou is located in the southwest of Anhui Province and the upper reaches of the Wan River. It is the predecessor of Anqing City in Anhui Province. Wan County was established in the Western Han Dynasty and abolished in the Western Jin Dynasty. In the Eastern Jin Dynasty, it was Huaining County, named after Qianshan (Tianzhu Mountain). The western mountainous areas are rich in bamboo, pine, fir, tung oil, tea and lacquer. The eastern plain mainly produces rice, wheat, beans, rapeseed, sweet potatoes, etc. It also produces medicinal materials such as Poria cocos, Gastrodia elata, and Astragalus membranaceus, and its specialties are Shuxi. Minerals include rutile, marble, and crystal. Industries include machinery, electrical appliances, chemicals, building materials, etc. The Hejiu Railway passes through here. Places of interest include Tianzhu Mountain, Taiping Pagoda, Shiniu Cave, Wutang Weir, etc.
