Introduction of Nanyue Temple.

Nanyue Temple is the largest ancient architectural complex in the south of China, and it is known as "the first temple in the south of the Yangtze River" and "the Forbidden City in the south of the Yangtze River". According to the available data, it was built in the Tang Dynasty, and after six fires and sixteen renovations and expansions in the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, it reached the present scale of 98,500 square meters in the eighth year of Guangxu (1882). Nanyue Temple is divided into courtyards with nine entrances and four exits, surrounded by red walls and towering turrets. Seeing the mountain spring at first sight, it flows around the wall, quite like the style of the Forbidden City in Beijing. There are eight Taoist temples in the east of Nanyue Temple and eight Buddhist temples in the west. This is a unique temple in China. Every August 15, a grand temple fair is held here. Many overseas Chinese in Southeast Asia, Japanese Buddhists, and good men and women returning home are willing to come here to worship in Wan Li. So incense is burned here all year round.

This ancient palace-style building complex, the famous Nanyue Temple, is located at the northern end of Nanyue Ancient Town and at the foot of Chi Di Peak. It is the largest temple in southern China, the first of the five mountains, covering an area of 98,500 square meters. The age of this temple is unknown. The temple recorded in local chronicles was built in the 13th year of Kaiyuan in Tang Dynasty (AD 725). After six fires in Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was rebuilt and expanded sixteen times.
