On the morning of April 26th, 2007, the foundation stone was laid from Zhangjiakou to Chongli in expressway, Rizo, Hebei.

The section from Zhangjiakou to Chongli in expressway, Rizo is an integral part of the layout of expressway network in Hebei Province, and it is also one of the high-speed trunk lines of Zhangjiakou expressway network. The starting point of the route is located near Taishiwan Village, Xuanhua County. The newly-built interchange is connected with the Danla Expressway and goes north along the east side of the planning area of Zhangjiakou City. Pass Xiaoxinzhuang and Kouli Cave Kiln, cross Dahua Ridge with extra-long tunnel, pass Liutiaogou, Xiayushuling and Toudaoying to Chongli County. The total length of the route is 62km, and the design speed is 80 km/h. There are 6 intersections, 3 separated interchanges, 53 large and medium-sized bridges and 8 separated tunnels, with a total length of 15km. The estimated total investment of the project is 3.772 billion yuan.

The construction of expressway in Rizo marks a new step in the construction of expressway in Zhangjiakou. After the opening of expressway, such as Zhang Jing, expressway and Xuanda expressway, Rizo expressway will surely become another important highway in the history of highway construction in Zhangjiakou, which will play a very important role in solving the connection problem between Zhangjiakou and the northeast and coastal highways and promoting the coordinated development of regional economy.

Rizo expressway Phase I Project-Opening to Traffic

On September 28th, 20 10, the Zhangjiakou-Chongli section of Rizo expressway traffic construction project was completed and opened to traffic.

This project is an important part of "five verticals, six horizontals and seven lines" in expressway network layout. The starting point of the project is connected with the Beijing-Tibet Expressway, passing through Xiaoxinzhuang and Dongyao Village in Koukou in the north, passing through the Dahualing Extra-long Tunnel, and going north of Chongli along Danangou, Xiaxinying, Xiayushulin and Toudaoying. The total length of the route is 62 kilometers. According to the standard of two-way four-lane expressway, the design speed is 80km/h. There are 6 interchanges, 3 separated interchanges, 42 bridges and 4 separated tunnels. There are two service areas, 1 maintenance area and 65438 management office. At the same time, in order to promote the development of Chongli's summer vacation, winter skiing and other tourism projects, there are three ski resort connecting lines, namely Saibei, Wanlong and Changchengling, with a total length of 46.9 kilometers.

The completion and opening to traffic of the first phase of Rizo expressway will connect Beijing-Tibet, Zhangshi and expressway, Rizo, and form the outer ring road of expressway in Zhangjiakou City, which is of great significance for improving the road network structure of Zhangjiakou City, alleviating the road traffic pressure in the main city, promoting the development of eco-tourism along the line and accelerating the sound and rapid development of regional economy and society. It is a veritable ecological road, tourist road and landscape road.
